Selecting game displays Last Week News in a loop

Postby CC » 21 Dec 2008, 21:15

I selected a game in week 6 in World Tour. When I did, I then selected the Singles tournament. After that, Last Week News displayed, and when I tried to exit this by clicking the curvy arrow at the bottom right, the next week (say Week 7) flashed in the center briefly, and then Last Week News appeared again. This just loops, advancing the week number, each time that the arrow is clicked.

On a different issue, why is it that when you want to choose a game, or tournament, those that you can't play are available, and you have to wait to find out whether or not the Davis Cup captain picked you or whether or not you played last week, or whether or not you ranking is high enough to enter? Why can't you just see the tournaments that you qualify for? In some instances, the game will alert you that your ranking is not high enough for a tournament that you tried to enter and will offer to show you events that you qualify for. This is a nice feature, but I would like to see this offered much more, as I tire of trying to find an event that I can enter. Granted, I don't understand this part of tennis very much, so I have much to learn about all of this. It may be easier for those with more tennis knowledge to navigate this.

I can't play World Tour anymore, as whenever I try to select the next match, the Last Week News loop begins, and I can't exit it. All that I can do is exit the game. If I again try to select the next match, the process continues. I will just play online and practice until maybe there is a fix posted? :)

Hello,

if you select a tournament in a week before the current week, then you'll have to wait almost 52 weeks before to enter it.
The current week is the one with the blinking text.

ManuTOO,

I can't select anything:

This flashes briefly:

Then back to here, where I try to select exit:

Then back to here, and this process continues:

So, it is in a loop. All that I can do is exit the game; I can't play World Tour anymore. Are you saying that I have to keep going through this until it stops? Will it ever stop?

Thanks!

OK. I kept pressing the right mouse button, and finally the weeks went up to 52 and then started over with 1, so it really is in a loop. Going past 52 weeks did not help any. However, the game did finally show me this:

Here, I was able to see two qualifying events, and I was able to select one. Isn't this a bug?

No, it's likely not a bug.
I guess u selected a tournament on Week 9, while u were already on Week 10 (for example), or something like this...
Thus the game brought you to the next year to let u play the tournament you chosen...

U can get back ur game before that, by loading the last automatically saved game on the correct year, I think...

OK. I really need to learn about World Tour. There is not much in the documentation about it, but I will probably figure it out as I play. For example, I don't see any way to save a game that I am playing (say in the middle of), but the documentation reads that I can resume the current game. So, if I want to leave a game without retiring but come back to it later, do I just close TE? There is no option during a game that I can find to save the game so that I can resume it later. Also, I have read in the forum that the game has a video recorder which is frame by frame, but I can't find this anywhere, except for the replay. This was mentioned in the post about your last video, where someone asked how to record a match. How do I access this function?

To save the game, simply go back to the World Tour lobby ( => the menu u reach by clicking on the "World Tour" icon in the Main menu).
There you have 2 icons to lead u to the load & the save menus.

Closing TE by clicking on the "Quit" icon will save ur current game. But clicking on the window top right cross, it may not, depending in what menu you are.

And the video recording is a development tool that isn't available in the public version of the game... :)

Thanks as always for your detailed answers. I really appreciate that.

One suggestion: maybe change some of the terms in TE2009, as sometimes "game" is used, and sometimes "tour" is used (e.g., "Save Game," then on the screen it says "Save Tour"). Also, it is confusing for me, because, like in my question about saving a game, what I really want to do is be able to leave a match (which is a game (match) in a Game (TE2009) with many games (per set)) without having to retire and be able to resume it later. I don't see a way to do this. Sometimes, I need a break or whatever and want to suspend a match that I am playing in World Tour so that I can maybe play an online match or close the program for whatever reason. So, I know how to save and load a game or a tour, but I don't see a way to suspend a match. On a related note, several times when I have minimized TE2009 during a World Tour match, where I had paused it, the screen would be blank when I would restore the window; I could not see anything except the window borders, and I had to click the X to close the game.

"Development tool" -- I love that. Must be nice to be the game master :) . So...do you need some help with development ;) .

To save your in-progress match, just exit the game, either by clicking on the "Exit" icon of the in-game menu, or by clicking on the window top right cross (if you play in windowed mode). When you'll load the game the next time & click on the "Next Match" icon, you'll see your opponent again, and then start the match at the point you left it.
