Hello,

can you go to the "Misc" options, and turn on the "Advanced Options", then go to the "Audio" options, and try the different possibilities for Frequency (11025, 22050, 44100) and Bits (8 & 16), and let me know if a setting is working...?

Also, you can edit the "System.log" and look for "Warning" & "Error" messages...

Could you open the "System.log" file and search for any warning or error message ..?

sfx sound not working on G5

Postby lawd » 23 Jun 2008, 20:54

couldn't find any error messages concerning sound.

checked audio/midi setup and tried all the different frequencies and bit settings.

no luck.

checked for sound output problems with older apps on MacOS 10.5, but they're all working fine.

it's a pity. heard your great sound fx on a friend's machine, but won't get it on mine.

weird that it isn't working on 10.4 nor 10.5, so could it be machine related?

cheers and thanks,

lawd

Humm, my guess is that there's a bug or a incompatibility in the sound system on PPC, but it's kinda strange, coz if the music works, then the Fx should work as well, coz they both use the same system...

Could you try to turn off the music, to see if it's free some resources for the FX ..?

sfx sound not working on

Postby lawd » 24 Jun 2008, 21:44

tried that before, with no luck.

what about the fact that the sound files are in .ogg format.

maybe for mac it would better to use a more common format on mac.

cheers.

It doesn't really matter... The musics are in .ogg as well, and it's the same sound system that takes care to uncompress & play the .ogg files for the FX... So I don't know what's going on... :?

Hum, maybe I have an idea...
Are you using a Case Sensitive mode for your file system ?
If so, check the case of this file name :
Sound/Sound.Ini
I think right now, it's :
Sound/Sound.ini
... :?

Eureka!

It works.

I changed ".ini" to ".Ini" and it worked.

Great. Thanks a lot.

Now I better buy the game, as the Demo time is past.
