I've been wondering if there could be a Hopman Cup for preparations for the Aussie Open. There can be 8 or even 16 nations facing against each other in 2 or 4 groups. For this tournament there can be two players and one alternate, one can play for mens singles, and the other with womens singles. And the last one can be from either player to play mixed doubles( if both top players don't want to play doubles the alternate can play). The first and second placed teams from each group would go on and qualify to the semis if there are 8 teams, and the quarters if there are 16 teams. From there on the winners of the semis move on to the finals and play for the Hopman Cup title. And the teams that move on from the quarters to the semis, will do the same as the one with 8 teams. So does this sound like a fun, good idea?

I feel like we should have 3 players for each team one playing mens singles, one playing womens singles, and the last one playing mixed doubles. And every team should at least have 1 alternate so that if one person can't play for a specific reason the alternate will take his/her place. I would love to see the forum making the Hopman Cup tournament for preparations for the Australian Open.

I think its better to organise team cup coz its easier and you need just 2 players for each team

Well the Hopman Cup, usually has two players for each team, but i was thinking about having three players and an alternate, or two players and an alternate.

We already have Team Cup so I dont see the need of having a similar tournament. (though they may fix the surface of Team Cup as Newline Synthetic so that it can work as a warm-up tournament for AO)
Besides, ppl would prefer the regular 250s if they are held on the same week and we won't get enough players for the Hopman Cup.

That's why i was thinking if it could take place before the first tournaments of the season so that there would not be any conflict to any player who wants to play the first tournaments of the season.

And plus, not all players that want to compete in the Team Cup, get the chance to compete. So this could be something that they can compete as a pre-AO tournament. And only two people get the chance to compete in the Team Cup, while I want either two and alternate, or three and an alternate to compete in the Hopman Cup.

Pretty impossible for just 1 week
Players don't want to play, mods give them extra day and they even then don't play matches
too much calculations, will player play match or not
maybe 2 weeks would be enough for all of this
and who choose who will play for which country, cos players who don't have a lot free time will queue as always

I understand you Milivoj, I was planning to start the Hopman Cup maybe two weeks before the start of the season to make the event go for two weeks. And about people not having free time, but they still queue, that is why i want each nation to have an alternate so that if they can't play,then the alternate will. And if the alternate, can't play then there will be a w.o. And i would want the starters to be players who know that they can play most of their matches as possible.
