In preparation for this tournament I concluded I will probably never be a fan of this surface. The elasticity and the speed is on a personal note a nightmare for a defender ... contrary to expectations (we had a tough practise match few days before) I was able to control the rallies and could involve him in trouble during the first few games. I tried to force long rallies and retrospectively, was it the key to win this match.

Thanks fpr playing a fair and good match and all the best in 2015.

Kind regards,
Heinrich von Westphalen.

Tight match and I somehow loses it by a few point margin. I am as usual effortless apart from serving. :0: 23 aces still cannot bail me out. Maybe I should either learn to play some real tennis or retire. Credit to his dropshot+net and consistent footwork for defence. GL to him in the rest of the tournament.

i had nothing to lose, i just tried to play my best against such an incredible player like maryan :)
i had 6 breakpoints and i converted just one in the first set, i played a lot better in the second set , all the games were soo close, i fought until the last point and i had a break point at 3-5*...
anyway maryan was better in that match GG and GL for him for the upcoming rounds... :)

Good Luck in 2015 :)

Tough glitchy conditions  I was a bit fortunate to squeeze out that tight first set. When we rehosted for the 2nd and 3rd sets, the lag ratio got worse than before (went from 4% to like 13%). After I got broken for the first time in the 2nd set, I knew I was screwed. I left briefly at the start of the 3rd set due to some project issues with my colleague. When I came back on resumption, Heinrich went up a gear and I just lost my head completely. Anyway it was a nice match at times and I have no regrets. It was the classic case of the more experienced player prevailing.

Cheers and best wishes. Go and grab that first Masters 1000 title :bootyshake:
