St. Petersburg Open

Postby Heinrich von Westphalen » 05 Sep 2014, 08:00

Dear Algo / Sampreas,
I just want to suggest that current tour plan should be revised because the upcoming tournament in St. Petersburg (IH) was relocated to Tel Aviv (BGC) in 2014.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
Heinrich von Westphalen.

The tournament in Tel Aviv was cancelled due to security concerns arising from Operation Protective Edge ... so just Metz. :fear:

Kind regards,
Heinrich von Westphalen.

I think it's okay to stick with it since ppl have signed up already. Otherwise we have an atp 250 event with 5 top 10 which is more unrealistic. And I lose in R1 again drawing no.2/3/4 in the world

Then we had better give up trying to organize a tour inspired by ATP Tour. The tournaments on TE Tour are always empty (almost never more than 50%) ...

Kind regards,
Heinrich von Westphalen.

They are empty because people try to win by RL or never appear (W.O.). Even if you merge them they still don't play if they want to abuse the RL or have no time. The qualification matches are just equally empty ':D

And mods do merge those tours which don't have sufficient queues.

If talking about being inspired by the real ATP Tour, always having so many top guys in a small tournament is no way inspiring and realistic as well.

Just an opinion from a noob though. You have more experiences in the tour and I guess your suggestions are better than me. :fear:

Becoz they are way better than me and it doesn't affect them :applause:

Or some people can take advantage of that high delay and lag better than me. I never know how to move earlier to return the ball when the lag comes in to give you extra time to react. I thought it was an ace and they ballbash me in the end when it's laggy. I never know how to deal with lag. I'll call for RL when it's laggy.

There are always just a few (one or two) top 5 players in draw which is quite realistic. Just the skill spread is maybe more tangible between top 5 players and the rest which can't be fixed by moderators. :fear:

In real ATP tour, usually there's no or just one top 10 in a 250 event. But here it is commonplace to have 2-3. :fear:

And to clarify, my distance from the central serve in France is 260ms. I test the connection before hosting.
360ms is the distance between Hong kong and your country Serbia :jap:

I'd just use the closest 250 tourney as an example.
Three top 10 in Winston Salem.

Nothing personal against those guys. They are very fair players. I know they queue up just to play for fun and practice for USO.

I have bad connection with you only perhaps. No, actually, only you have bad connection when we play but not me.
If you want, I can show you a screenie to prove that my distance with central server is 260ms. And between Hong Kong and Germany (Heinrich's place) I have 325ms. 360ms is for Serbia. :D
