Different players different ban?

Postby NOLE.LUCKY » 03 Jun 2012, 11:09

I clearly remember weeka32 was banned for 4 months for changing stats when playing against me in a 2nd round match at Eastbourne, while this achraf dude gets only a 2 months ban, that too for changing stats during a major match? Some serious lack of consistency in the rules here :salute:

I clearly remember that too topic35-3957.php
I guess no one was banning players more than Ivan Ljubicic as he banned me for 2 years then deleted it, so 2 weeks are REALLY enough for changing stats along with a disqualify from the current tournament.
Thankyou.

We should be careful of having proportional bans according to the fault.
Imho, changing skills and having multi accounts, should be the longest bans -and probably fake scoring too- (e.g 2 months sounds ok, but not 2 weeks). Why?, because they clearly show a deep lack of sportmanship and trying to cheat to get some kind of benefit.
To a minimum of a ret if you don't tell your opponent you're quitting for an specific reason.
We also should be careful of having the same criteria regardless the person we're banning, which is what Nole's saying, and he's right.

Since that decision was made by a different team, it cannot be compared to this one(as the rules dont state what the punishment is). As Algo noticed, the length of punishment is proportional to the severity of "crime"; there are different amounts of weeks(or even warnings) given in different situations.

I think the ban length should actually depend of the player ; if it's his 1st offense, then the ban shouldn't be too long ; if he already did a couple, then the ban should be longer.

I am really sorry. Was the ban for 4 months or weeks? I think 4 weeks. Sorry everyone.
But all I wanted to say was that the ban should be equal for everyone. I guess the ban for weeka was so extensive because everyone (read "proud Europeans") called him a lagger (ok, the connection with him was awful), and so wanted him out. And he really hasn't returned since. The same mods banned him who introduced the (in)famous lag rule, I guess in accordance with their motive to make this world tour a European tour.
