Pricing of upgrade TE2009 => TE2011

Postby manutoo » 17 Mar 2010, 05:33

Hello,

ok, here what I thought about the pricing of TE2011 for existing TE2009 registered users.
Producing 3D courts is pricey (I don't do them myself), and actually, right now, I can only pay for 1 ( + a modified indoor version).

So my idea is that TE2009 Keys will work with TE2011, giving access to everything, except the 3D courts.
If you want to have them, you'll have to upgrade for USD10/EUR7.5 .
If you don't, you'll still be able to play using the legacy 2D courts of TE2009. (People buying TE2011 but having a low-end 3D card might have to play with them too)

If a lot of people upgrade, I'll then produce additional courts in free update.

It'll have also some other new stuff (mainly new hairstyles & outfits) that you'll get either you upgrade or not.

how much does it cost? by the way, i'll definitely buy the upgrade :D if you get more than enough money for producing 3D courts for say the grand slams, would you start making them for masters etc also? that would be awesome

kengyin, the 1st naked stadium is about US$1000. "Naked" means without chair umpire, players' chairs, line judge, crowd, etc., everything that can be reused in every stadium (all of these little things cost me almost $2000). The further naked stadiums have been quoted still at US$1000 each, which I could never pay (except if I get a huge sale boost from the 2011 version - Where there's life, there's hope ':D ). So I hope once the 1st stadium will be fully done, the artist will think that it's easier to produce additional stadiums & give me a cheaper quote... :fear:
Anyway, I will at least do some color changes by myself in the stadium, to bring a bit of variety...

Manutoo, in TE2009 we already have a colour change for the courts anyway so don't worry about having a unique court for each surface at the moment.
Just as long as you have individual parameters for each court like clay having a slower ball and grass having a faster ball and low bounce then it will be just fine!

I forgot to say it'll have the 9 ground textures, so at least, it'll have this visual difference, even if the stadium around is the same... Grass, Clay & Indoor Hard are already done, and they look quite better than in TE2009..! :P

I think its fair but not for registered users. If u need money i have a idea. If my name shown in every background of a court minuimum 3 times i will pay u some money. but if u want to discuss it we can in mail.
