This match was closer than the score says. There were a ton of deuce games and Voja had some really good shots and a lot of variety and he really kept me off-guard.

........................

(I decided to add the video of my match against JHON-DIM yesterday cuz I forgot to post it then :annoyed: )

I downloaded the recording of this match (Togtdyalttai vs. Vojatenis), and I have tried to watch it. The first game plays OK, but after that the playback is horrible. The score is all wrong many times, the players continue to run around after the announcer has spoken about who won the point -- it's just awful. Did anyone else try to watch this? In some points, even though the playback is normal (say if you select to replay a point), the playback displays in slow motion. Is it just my system? I exited the game and tried again to play it, but it does the same thing. If ManuTOO reads this...can you make the playback of recordings better?

Thanks, jhon-dim for that information. I thought that maybe it was just me. This is one of those things that you realize you are lucky to have and that you hate to complain about, but you are irritated by having something that is so nice (the replay of matches) having these little flaws that keep you from enjoying it. We have this saying, "Never look a gift horse in the mouth." This is a good explanation of it:

"In reality however, the old saying is a proverb about unusual gifts. Reportedly said by St. Jerome in 400 AD, this proverb relates to an earlier practice of judging the age of a horse by taking a good look at its teeth; an important practice given that quality of a horse's teeth is directly related to its age, and therefore value. Presumably then, anyone lucky enough to receive a horse should not go to the trouble of checking out the animal's teeth, and should instead simply enjoy the fact that they have received such a thoughtful gift."
John Smith
http://www.articlesbase.com/gifts-articles/never-look-a-gift-horse-in-the-mouth-618951.html

So, let's just say that someone told me that this horse I have been given has some bad teeth (but thanks for the horse).

From what I could see of this match, I am astonished, frankly, by the ability of Togtdyalttai to adjust his position so precisely. On clay, he runs from one side of the court to the other and is able to slow gently and make minute adjustments until he is in the perfect position to strike the ball. I don't quite understand that; I have a lot of room for improvement. I also notice how short his player is, but I don't think that has much to do with the control of the movement. Many times when I play, I slide into the strike too much (run right until the end and then strike the ball); he is able to overcome this. Nice.

Thanks, CC. I guess I wouldn't be able to defend well if I couldn't do that. :)
