I think, I mean the way I did for exaple the NextGen ATP Finals court is that:
1st I adjusted the lines to the court, then made the lines, which are displayed by the game look invisible and just photoshopped the lines to the correct way to fit the actual lines. Sorry I could not explain it in any other way, and I admit its a bit hard to understand but I hope you can. ':D

I use paint.net and work with several layers:

Layer 1: background, clay
Layer 2: the white lines with nearly 25% transparency
Layer 3: cover the lines with colored sand with nearly 33% transparency
( I got those sand.png’s from the fantastic site pngtree.com )
