Lucian86,
yup, it's not working for serve, the animation handling is separate from the rally one... I'll try to fix that in the future.

@Manutoo

What's the exact dynamic of "returnwaiting&flipr" animation ? How and when exactly it goes into action because I can't figure it out
What about the idle.anim ?

Could you upload the wait.anim max file...maybe I could give it a revamp :=

Lucian86,
after each ReturnWaiting, there are 50% chances to get a ReturnWaiting&FlipR.
Idle is played when no other anim is played.
Wait = Idle with knees bent a bit more & more up/down movement, it's super easy to do... ;)

Yeah, it was easy :)

By the way, wouldnt' be better if the returnwaitin&flipR followed everytime the returnwaiting ? Making it start more or less when the oppenent's ball toss occurs (maybe a couple of frames before) ?

I created them for Federer and I think it's looking good...would be great if it worked everytime

Here's the video together with flat serve animation and "wait" animation

Bravo Luciane :) best federer serve and forehand ive ever seen, but he kinda spins the racquet too fast, doesnt he? i think you should slower it a bit.other than that, great animations man looking forward to seeing them in the game.

Lucian86,
if you always want to play Flip after Wait, then there's no need to do 2 separate animations ; just stick the additional key frames to Wait, and it'll be all set (put only 1 frame in Flip).

I thought about that but it's difficult to match the length of the animation with the one of the opponent's serve. It could end either too early or too late...that's because doing as you told me, I have to decide in advance how much the returnwaiting will last instead of being a cycle as it is normally. And what if the opponent is bouncing the ball more than usually, the anim then I think will start from the beginning and it will look odd...Am I right ?

@Jaydraco
As soon as I decide for a definitive version

@Raz
The serve is more or less fast as in real life...Basically I took a video, slow it down until it run frame by frame and saw the body position each frame..Since the video was 25 or 30 frames per second (exactly how much I use in 3ds max), the speed is almost identical with my animation
About the forehand, it is indeed a little bit faster than the real life but only for the frames just before hitting the ball...it's just one frame, not more...I decided that because I don't know why, the stroke is more controllable this way...
As I said, it's faster the frames before hitting the ball; after hitting the ball(in the follow through), I use the exact number of frames as in real life.

For the 2d court, see Rounders blog

Lucian86,
the current Flip anim is for flip the racket (and other feat like this) ; if you want an anim that starts before your opponent serve, then right now, it's not possible to do so, for the reasons you explained.

In that case I think you're right :) the video from where I copied it had a pretty fast spin..I saw others and it was indeed slower and also irregular..I'll change it

agree !!

i kinda think that the last few frames of Fed's backhand (backhand no 6)are a bit wrong as well. If you take a look at the last frames youll see feds left leg going up in the air a lil bit, and that never happens in real life. also, his left arm looks a bit weird as well.

It's not 100% definitive so I'll take a look

Sure about that ?

There's nothing weird about left hand motion in my opinion
