Neeko how difficult is it to make anims? I've wanted to try. I have no experience with 3DS Max but I'm willing to learn the basics but how hard would it be for somebody without any experience? I am willing to learn if it wouldn't take too much time..

Well, if you're familiar with 3D modeling softwares, you don't really to know 3DS beforehand. Even though they have some differences, once you understand how one works, you can handle the others (not without a little effort though ^^), If you don't know how it works, you need to learn from tutorials. Lynda.com make some pretty good tuts about those. I used some before and I really learnt. If you know how to look on the web, you'll find some pretty easily :fear: .
Ans about how long it takes... it all depends how fast you learn... I can't be more accurate.
3DS is a huge software with whom you can model people, creatures, worlds, buildings, cities... and render them photorealistically, you can make animated movies, special fx for movies, cinematics, character animations for video games and so on. There are hundreds of commands litterally. But to animate, you only need two : "rotate" and "move". I don't know Manutoo's way of making anims, but I'm sure, it's not really different from mine.

With that said, Manu said he was gonna upgrade the forum, so one can edit the first post. When it will be done I will regroup all links and vids in the first post and make a little tut with the -very- basics of animating. I'm not a pro myself but I think that my anims are not that bad. They're not Virtua Tennis good, but I think that maybe I can give y'all some advices. I told you I would release some models in the first post and I wasn't lying ^^ So if you can wait a little more (maybe a week or two... or more :D), I will make a tut of mine. Until then nothing prevents you to start your journey to the 3DS MAX world :D. But it's gigantic and there is a high probability that you end up lost without help ;)

Once the tut is made, my only request will be to post your anims in this thread which I will rename to "Modded Animations" (or something like this), and every anim will be in the first post with the name of the authors attached.

And most importantly, his serve!!!! I want to see your beautiful version of his serve :).

I was thinking about working on some groundies this week, after those serves. I got a list I wanted to do and there is still some to do.
When I'm done with my list, I will take requests. By the way isn't Federer's serve already done by Manutoo ?

Thx Neeko!
I am a bit lazy: is it possible that you provide us only one zip (or rar) with all your great anims?
Maybe with a tree like this (for example):
Serves
|--- Nikolay Davydenko
|------ File.anim
|------ File.txt
|--- Boris Beker
|------ File.anim
|------ File.txt
|--- ...
Return Stances
|--- Nikolay Davydenko
|------ File.anim
|------ File.txt
|--- Boris Beker
|------ File.anim
|------ File.txt
|--- ...

Or maybe sorted by player: a folder by player with his dedicated anims ?
Thx

Wow just tried them its brilliant thanks!! :) now one problem: why isnt the serve waiting/ball bouncing not coordinated/synchronized with the serve like manutoo s ones? For example if your player bounces the ball and you press the strike button, it will jump to the serve...

Te las pasaré, no es un problema. Sin embargo, hay que usar 3ds max 8 (dijiste que tenias MAX 2011) para exportar la animacion. Si no, la animacion sera alterada o al reves.

Well, from one lazy guy to another : deal with it !

Nah just kidding ^^
On the real, I will give y'all the link to the folders on my mediafire accounts instead of the sole anims. I reorganized my files into folders and subfolders. It will be easier to link.

I know this problem and to be honest, I always skip the waiting when I serve so I purposely didn't pay attention about it. I don't know how to fix that though. I think the problem resides in the servicewaiting.txt.
Try changing the readytoserve value (first number). Maybe by lowering it between 0 and 15 (I always start the bouncing at the fifteenth key in max). and see if there is a difference

And you asked me about the speed of my strokes earlier. This can be fix by changing the "speed" value in the corresponding .txt file. increase the value which normally is at 1.0. Beware tho, you have to keep the same product of the "info" x "speed" multiplication.
For example, if "info" is 15.0 and speed is "1.0" you got to keep 15 (15.0 x 1.0) as the product.
