yup, it's possible, but you need to have 3DS Max 8... If you want to do a little try, I put the idle animation that serves as a base for all strikes attached to this topic.
Hi Manutoo, Im interested to make my own animation, yesterday, I am studying this thing. I have 3DS Max, thanks for the attachment. It will help me a lot. But I have question, I also have Motion Builder 2010, a very nice animation software, can I use this one? But when I looked at it, it doesnt supports .anim extension.
The .anim is the internal format of the TE2009's Engine.
I'm attaching the 3DS Max 8's plugin that exports the anim to a .X File (*) ; and the TE2009's Engine will convert it to .anim on loading. I'm also attaching the .max file of the idle anim, so u'll see what options are needed to export the animation correctly.
The plugin is a modified version of http://www.kwxport.org/ , and works only with 3ds Max 8.
Hi Manutoo, I tried your files, actually what I have here is 3ds Max 2010 and I downloaded the KW-xport program for 3ds Max 2010 and below from their site. I loaded the max scene you gave and did change some action there and exported to .x. There is one setup from KWport program without any distortion but the body of the character is lying on the floor face down. If I make the Y-up on, it standup but the character was severely distorted. I played with different setup on KWport program but its always distorted but I can use it on the TE only that the character is distorted. What am I doing wrong here?
Humm, I have no idea what's wrong... I did a good bunch of modifications on the plugin, and u won't be able to export animation like I do with mine using the unmodified plugin (except maybe if its author added the possibility to export animation without the mesh). I guess if you succeed doing some anim, you could send me the .bip , and I'll send u back the .anim ...

Ok, I will try to get a copy of 3ds Max 8 and use the modified plugin you posted. I know you're very busy with other things so I will try this one first.
PattySchnyder, I think it needs about 2 weeks full time to get the basics of animation with 3ds Max, when you're already familiar with other aspects of the software. If you're not, add a couple more weeks, I guess...
