I like very much your Indian Wells & Roland Garros ... BUT...And there's always a BUT The WTF's seem a little bit muffled to me? I mean i can usually pick the ball when my opponent has struck it, but i can't here..I can't tell the difference between a miss hit/Drop shot, or even a BIG winner they all sound very similar..Apart from that though mate, they're all Spot On !!

ComeonANDY, I would like to thank you for taking the trouble to test them all out, I really appreciate it. As for the WTF sounds, you are absolutely right: the differences between the sounds categories are hardly to be heard, I admit it. Besides the fact that the strikes sounds in the London O2 Arena are quite particular, he point is that I actually didn't find any WTF video that can offer me high quality sounds, so I will try to find one on another platform than YouTube or - in the worst case scenario - will wait for 2013 WTF highlights videos to be uploaded onto YouTube or anywhere else by the end of this year.

Hello manutoo,

I just have a short question about TE sounds if you don't mind.

I have read your comment about the mono/stereo sound issues that some people have been encountering. If I understood well, TE engine is still not able to handle stereo sounds, which implies that the stereo sounds played during TE matches are automatically converted to mono, thus decreasing the quality of them, am I right?

Even though I haven't faced mute sounds issues so far, I think there are differences in terms of sounds between when the latter are played with, for instance, Windows Media Player (which can - God bless it - handle stereo sounds) and when they are loaded in TE so that we cannot fully exploit the quality of stereo sounds. When played with WMP, sounds are higher-pitched, whilst they are lower-pitched when played in TE. That's why we can feel that there is sometimes a lack of impact for some shot sounds.

I don't know what it would take to tackle that issue and how complex it would be, but this is definitely worth being revised as a solution to that issue would be a small step for man, but a giant leap for the ITST community.

P-S: If you happen to find some of my samples decent enough to be part of your next TE update, feel free to use them as these are intended for the whole community.

TE doesn't do anything about sound, it's all done by DirectSound which is a part of DirectX, and can handle stereo sounds ; the problem is with audio drivers. I think it's C4ill who has issues with these sounds & he plays on a Mac through boot camp so I guess the drivers for the mac sound chip are buggy and/or incomplete.

For the pitch issue, check that your audio settings are on 44khz, not 22khz.
Also, strike sounds are panned so it modifies their balance ; you can turn it off in the Tennis.ini, if you wish.

Ladies and gentlemen,

As I promised it to all of you, I am offering you hereby my freshly updated and thus finalized sound package, which marks the end of the sounds project I decided to undertake several weeks a ago.

I would like to thank once again all those who give me feedback so as to improve some sound samples, their advice has been very helpful to me.

The sound package 2.0 contains :

I am really happy I could finalize that project as in my eyes, sounds play a considerable part in increasing realism of tennis video games – my goal with the creation of this package is to make you feel the same when you play TE or ITST-modded TE. No need to say that this is intended for every member of the TE and ITST communities, if you patch modders such as Sam or Dilima – to mention just a few – want to use some samples or the whole thing in your next patch update, feel free to do so.
