Lets say that we have 7 weeks of small tournaments, and that we count 3 of them for rankings. If you miss even 5 of them (which active player probably won't), you can still collect nice number of points. Big points are still on masters and GSs

If you miss some of the masters or GS, well, then you are in the same position like you would be in longer season. Because those points you can win just once!

I say we drop 06 rankings because of the new 2 season in one year calender. Then we hold the 4 practice tournaments to determine the seedings (not rankings) for the first three tournies of the year (so until the AO is over) Then when the AO is over we use the actual rankings to determine the seedings. Then at the start of the second season we use the normal ATP system of replacing the previous seasons ranking points that were earned.

I know it is a major difference between TE 06 and 09 but dropping the current rankings just like that can't be good... It would mean we played last 9 months of tournaments for - nothing.

Don't drop the rankings then. Just use the practice tournaments for seedings.

No matter who is seeded...better ones will be in the final stages no matter what...

What if Tog is not seeded in a tourny and plays Chiller first round? They are two of the top players and that certainly is not late in the draw.

Tog had tough draws in 06 too...like we all did

and again, best of players will prevail no matter what.

I love my #9 TE06 ranking. I had to win a lot of matches to get it especially since I came on the scene so late.

But I do NOT think I am anywhere close to being one of the ten best in TE09. I mean, really. I'm terrible.

I wouldn't say it's for nothing if we reset the rankings. I'll always have those old titles and rankings in my heart :p.
