Davis Cup Week

Postby Togtdyalttai » 05 Feb 2009, 00:09

I don't think there's anything planned to do in the week of Davis Cup R16 (March 5-11), or any of the other Davis Cup weeks for that matter. So I thought that maybe it'd be a good idea to have a special country-themed tournament or something. I won't give any specific idea here, and instead let you guys come up with stuff.

I propose a Davis Cup with USA, Argentina, Finland, Canada, France, Scottland, etc.

I mean, real countries that have at least 2 players, and then, if you don't have a partner of your country, you can make a team with a friend who doesn't have a partner, too. It will be a 16-teams draw.

People from countries who have a lot of players will have to choose a captain, like USA. The captain will have to select the players for the tie. And obviusly, there will be 5 singles matches instead of 4 singles and 1 doubles.

Tell me if you like my idea, please.

i agree with Santiago, i don't have any other chilean players(and i'm really trying to find new people...) and i wouldn't mind to be on a team with people from other countrys. If Davis Cup can't be made for any reason i suggest to either have "vacations" from the gameon those weeks(no tournaments at all, a few weeks apart from the tour but on the middle of the season, kinda a dream for real players, lol) or warm up tournaments like what we had on the pre-season
but 1st priority should be Davis Cup, and Santiago's idea is really good

I didn't understand, was that ironic?

1- My name is not Abel, my nickname is Santiago92, Abel was a (bad) joke because Maximilian Abel.
2- It was my idea, I didn't comment anything with Tog.
3- Didn't you like the idea? Propose a better idea!

I think it's not a lot of work to make a Davis Cup, I could organizate it.

1- It doesn't matter what ur name is.. Abel, Santiago, Santi92, Santos, Santiago, Santana, Santokyo, u know that i'm talking to u ...
2- Then '' nice tog and abel to think about this idea'' happy now?
3- yes i like ur idea.

So IMO this last message was totally unnecessary ....

Ok then, we need to select the countries that will be involved. There should be 16 of them. I'll list the number of players from each country that have played this year in my next post.

Togtdyalttai and I worked for the Davis Cup, soon he'll open a thread for registrations, rules etc.
Here I'll put the list of all countries with more than 2 active players :

USA
Croatia
France
U.K.
Germany
Serbia
Bosnia
Canada
Brazil
Hungary
Poland
Spain
Scandinavia (Finland + Sweden)
Italia
Portugal
Romania
Belgium
Holland
Tunisia

Of course, This list may have some errors, if u have questions about that list ask it here or contact me anywhere. If your questions are more about Rules, Schedule better ask Togtdyalttai but I think i'll still be able to answer.

Thanks

If you have questions, please ask them here, not in the registrations thread. Better yet, ask either Ro.Fed or me.

I'd like to bring it to all of your attention that Davis Cup will be counted in the rankings. If you want to know more, I have a sheet with the Davis Cup ranking points. The whole Davis Cup will count as one of the 15 small tournaments that you are allowed to play, and as 1 of the 12 counted small tournaments if you earn enough points in it.
