In world tour, player has racket facing differently

Report all bugs about TEM2 here

Yes, it was the forehand rotating the racket and not putting it back in its initial place at the end (maybe it happens with some other anims as well, though), and thus after the backhand wasn't happy to start with the racket already rotated and was just rotating it too much... (it should actually not happen like that, but I guess it's a bug in Unity :fear: )

It should be ok in today's update, hopefully ! :)

It looks to be better but sadly I've submitted another bug report where I encountered the problem again :(

I replayed the last game of your last bug report, but I didn't notice anything special, so the bug might not be reproducible easily.

What happened exactly ? On the screenshot, both rackets seem alright.

I got a new report from you. I replayed the last 2 points, but again there was no issue with the racket direction.

You control your player by yourself, right ? So you didn't skip anything, right ?

Hey Manutoo!

Yeah I thought I would send the bug report in to see if you could re-produce it. Don't get me wrong, the bug is mostly fixed, it seems there are still rare instances where it still occurs (mainly on the backhand animation) but it seems it's not reproducable on bug reports now!

And yes I control the player myself!

It's better to send the report for nothing, than the opposite ! :P

By any chance, does it happen when you open & close the menu ?

I noticed the .dmo starts on the 2nd set. What did you do between the 2 sets ? Closed & relaunched the game ? Or just went to the menus ? If the later, I put a possible fix for the next update, although I'm really not sure it'll help or not...

Actually, when it happens, there's no animation at all, the player just runs with his rackets strangely oriented and then he hits the anim without moving the racket nor the arm, right ?

If yes, I saw that bug watching a Let's Play, although I'm not sure what causes, especially if it's not reproducible from a .dmo replay... :fear:

You are right! Ah so if it doesn't appear in a .dmo reply I guess you need a screen recording. I will try and get a video for you when I next play!

Closing and reopening the menu makes no difference btw

No need to record as it won't bring new info ; hopefully I'll catch the bug when I work on improving the animations for TE4...

I got your 2 additional bug reports and still couldn't reproduce the bug.

As I never saw it on my PC, but I saw plenty of times in a Let's Play and it seems to happen quite often on yours as well, I wonder if it could be linked to some hardware config.

The main particularity on my PC is that the monitor runs at 120hz. What's yours frequency ? If it's less than 120hz, could you try to play a few matches with VSync off to see if it stops the bug or not ?

Yeah unfortunately. I note it mostly happens on return and playing balls at the last second. I will try with v-sync off, I'm running on 60Hz monitor. I'll let you know what happens.

Turning off v-sync seems to make it permanently that the racket is played at a frame rate completely different to the rest of it. It's crazy! I didn't notice this in the build where you had attempted to mostly fix the animations so unsure what's happened.

In terms of animation themselves, I can't really notice a difference

Ouch, last week I changed how the racket is displayed and I didn't notice it turned off the frame interpolation for it !

It'll be fixed in today's update, thanks to your report !

However, it's not linked to the animation issue, so it doesn't fix or worsen anything about it... :fear:

I got your last bug report :
Animations bugged again! Racket stuck in place on running forehands and extended arms on backhands!

So in the .dmo, the racket is ok on the forehand, but the arms look a lil bit strange on the backhand. I guess it's not what you meant, but just to be sure, it looked like this on my PC :
2019-07 - TEM2 - Stretched Arms on Backhand §.jpg

But this made me think that when the anim bug happens, you can start the replay and pause it and then do the bug report, as it should reproduce the bug so I'll see it in the screenshot attached to the bug report..!

I will try your suggestion. It's weird it looks like the arms get stuck and then continue to gets stuck on a running show or changing direction and becomes unstuck at some other point.
