A couple of bugs

Postby Rob4590 » 21 Feb 2009, 12:50

Hi Manu - couple of problems in TEM 1.0d:

Doubles: One of my players has somehow got two different doubles partners, and is therefore being entered into every tournament twice - once with each partner!

Problem with qualifying while still in current tournament: This same player is playing Indian Wells Masters Series, both singles and doubles (with one of his partners!). The doubles pair go out early (in week 10 therefore), while in singles he wins his first two rounds and is due to face Davydenko in round 3. I get to the end of week 10, and then get the messages that he has to qualify for Miami in doubles with a) his correct partner and b) the incorrect (former) partner. I click yes to playing with the correct partner, no to the other one, and then get the message saying that they won't actually be able to play the qualifying for Miami as he is still playing Indian Wells (singles). However, I then continue on and he doesn't play the singles any more, just the Miami doubles qualifying. At the end of the week I look at the Indian Wells singles draw, and where it should have put him through for his 2nd round win, there is a gap in the draw, and Davydenko has progressed through with a BYE from R3 to the QF. I progress to the next week and get informed that he received 258 entry points for reaching round "--" whereas R3 should give him 75 entry points.

Any ideas? I've still got the save games from each week if you want them - trouble is I don't know which file is which to send them to you!

Ok, got your saved game, and fixed the problem with a double qualif happening on the 2nd week on a tournament where u're still playing in single.

I also put an "anti-bug" against the 2 partners at the same time thing ; ie: it means I don't know when & where it happens, but I added some checking to see if a player has 2 partners, and remove 1 in this case ; as an end user, you shouldn't see a difference, except if the anti-bug fails (or remove the wrong partner) ; in such case I'd need to have ur saved game the week before u notice at 1st there's a trouble with your partner...

You can download & install the game again & go on from the saved game u sent to me, it should work fine... (build date in Credit screen = 2009.2.21)

Thanks Manu - really appreciate the help.

If it helps you for the partners thing, Rivera changed partners on maybe week 50 (to Nastase), then I made a mistake and made him the selected partner of Netter, - i think this made his "selected partner" = "--" so then I changed his partner again to Bezecny on about week 6.

Thanks again

EDIT: Even happier now - Rivera just beat Davydenko, Blake, Llodra and Querrey before losing the final to Safin (in 5 tight sets) :D

Hi Manu - another bug - this time in the head to heads just before a match.

When any of my hired players (ie not the user character) face someone that they have faced before (let's call him Federer), when I click on the h2h score between them, it takes me to the h2h screen between my user character and Federer, or user character and hired player.

ie: h2h = Federer 1v2 Rivera (hired player), click on it and I get the list of matches between User and Federer. Or sometimes the matches between User and Rivera

Am also having problems withdrrawing from events - even when the event is up to 20 weeks away.

ok, got the H2H bug.
I also found the end of contract bug (it was showing the next goal instead of the current achieved one).
(but version on site still not updated)

What your problem with withdrawing from events .?

At times, I try to withdraw from an event (that is well in advance - eg in week 20 I tried to withdraw from the doubles in week 40) and it tells me that I am too late to cancel from the event. This problem is intermittent though - sometimes happens, sometimes it's fine and I can withdraw as expected.

Rob4590, if the message appears systematically for one of your saved games, then could you send it to me ? (don't forget to tell me the problematic week ;) )

Just a couple of other minor things:

1- Davis Cup again - is there any way of being able to see what suface the match is going to be played on, a couple of weeks in advance of the match?
2- Also - just had a strange selection of one of my players (ranked 90ish) for France, when there about 8-10 much higher singles ranked players from France. He also played doubles despite being ranked about 350 - again many higher ranked players were available.

3- The Masters Cup at the end of the season - I don't think the qualification from the group is working properly - in real life, it is matches won, then set difference etc.

I just had a group where the results were:

Djokovic 3 wins / All other 3 players 1 win and 2 losses each.

Set scores for those three players were: Murray (AI) 2 sets won, 4 lost / Rockwell (human) 2 sets won, 4 lost / Barr (AI) 3 sets won, 4 lost, which should then mean that Barr goes through with Djokovic. However, my player (Rockwell) went through (and eventually won the event) incorrectly.

1- nope

2- doh, I forgot to remove a debug test that make the human player always selected... :?

3- checked & fixed, only the lost sets were counted & not the won ones...

PS: I got ur email a few days ago and will look into after TE2009 Mac will be released :)

Sorry, I did not see this section of the forum when I first posted this:

Re: Tennis Elbow Manager Mac v1.0d

I had (have) a problem with the coach (me) traveling with one player and not being available for another player at the same location.

The situation is that Sarah Pitkowski was allowed to go the singles qualifying tournament for the $100,000 Lugano Switzerland Challenger. Then Sarah and Emily were allowed to go as a team to the doubles qualifying for the same tournament. Emily always travels with the coach. The problem started when Sarah was asked to alot hours before her first round of singles qualifying. She wasn't allowed to spend experience points or practice volleying skills because she had no coach present. All right. Then Emily is asked to do the same thing before the first round of doubles qualifying. She is allowed to, but Sarah still is not. They qualify, and Sarah qualfies in singles. The next week (this week), during the real torurnament, the same thing happens. Emily is still allowed to do all forms of training, but Sarah is not.

I am wondering if the problem is caused by the players not travelling together. Sarah needed to arrive a day before Emily, though I would have thought this would not have made a difference. This also brings up the question of what should happen when two players attend the same tournament without the coach, but one of them has an assistant travelling with him. Should they both receive the benefit of the assistant, or just the player being accompanied?

Hello Curtis,

I read ur message at 1st, but unfortunately, I don't have much to say about it... :?
Normally, all team members (including the coach) availability tests work depending of their current location, so even if the coach or the assistant doesn't travel with a player, if they are all in the same tournament at a given time, they should be available to the player... So I guess u met a bug, but as I can't look into ur saved game, I won't be able to fix it for now... :?

All right. I know my OS is previous to the ones that can give you automatic reports, but I have not advanced the game since I submitted the initial bug report. Is there any way I can copy and e-mail to you the two or three most recent autosaves?

Hello Curtis,

unfortunately, and although I can load your saved games on my Mac Intel in Rosetta mode, I cannot debug them, coz the debugger fails when launched in the Rosetta mode... :?
So I guess we'll have to wait for this bug to occur on someone else's computer...
