Laptop overheating when using MSN

Postby Stajus » 07 Jul 2011, 16:34

Does anyone have this problem? 2-3 nights ago my laptop started overheating during MSN conversations, and it's doing it every day now...at random moments, even when I only have 1 or 2 chat windows open...Browsing, TE, and other things are not affected, but MSN is lagging like hell...like it's using a lot of the processor capabilities but I don't understand why that would happen. After it has happened for the first time I performed a full virus scan of my PC and found 0 detections - completely clean. WTF!?!?!?!

Hmm, I'm gonna perform a spyware/malware clean up now too, maybe there's some MSN related spyware slowing it down...

Yeah, that happens to me because my RAM on my PC is horrible -- I def's need a new PC with better RAM and CPU by the end of this month.
But Stajus was talkin about the MSN causing this issue to occur :?

Nice discussion  Hmm, I've got no such problems in TE or when browsing or even when I'm watching tennis matches online (like I did throughout Wimbledon and the other day I was watching some fights on Youtube and it was all nice and fast )...So, it only happened in the last 2-3 days with MSN, suddenly the fan starts going faster 'cause the laptop starts heating up for no reason. Just did a spyware/malware scan - totally clean. No viruses either. Maybe the processor/hardware components are getting old...over 1.5 years now, but pfffff I used my previous laptop (Sony Vaio) for 4 years  This one is HP Compaq, not the best, not the worst either at the time of purchase. 4 GB RAM btw.

Stajus wrote:4 GB RAM btw.

Hmmm... -- doesn't seem to be no such problems there. That's plenty of RAM -- loool mines only like half a GB, so it like pretty much overheats each time I have TE on, especially on hot days.
And every other application doesn't cause overheating, so there's probably nothing wrong with the fans -- So I'm assuming there's no build up of dust or anything like that.
You using Windows Live Messenger yeah? Hmm, you can also chat on Hotmail, so you can do that for the time being I guess :fear: -- I'm sure hotmail won't cause an overheat, its on a browser for goodness sake lol.
