Postby tmoney2273 » 21 May 2010, 12:25

Do these three players really deserve to say they are former world number one players. Personally i dont think so.

What you think

All of them got no1 because henin retired...

Ivanovic deserved to be no1 i guess, cause she played quite good that time. The same for jankovic. When she was no1, she had a great indoor season.

Dinar Safin didn't really deserved it. I mean he lost 1-6 0-6 against Venus in wimbledon. A "real" no1 isn't allowed to lose in such scores...
That match was so awesome. Dinar and his coach nearly cried...

I believe that Ivanovic deserves to be considered a number one player because at that she was playing like the number one player. Safina and Jankovic were number one because they played alot of tournaments. Like Wozniacki, she is only number 3 because since the start of the year she has been playing a tournament every week. Like Serena said, all you have to do to get the number one ranking in women's tennis is play every week and Wozniacki is listening to Serena. The only players I believe to be capable of being called the best women's tennis player is Serena, Venus, Sharapova, Henin, and even Clijsters.

If you do like tennis, then you can play as much as you want... JJ is healthy enough, although she is playing "too much".. She has beaten the Williams sisters at Rome, so I don't see any reason why she wouldn't be no.1, she has good H2H vs Serena 4-4 and vs Venus 6-5 for JJ... Only her threat is Henin.. ;)

beating the sisters on clay isnt really a great achievement since theyre grass / hard court.. so xD but still she was nr1 and that was nice.. but no more xD

Let's not forget that Serena was just coming back from her leg injury from the Aussie Open and was rusty and not match tough when JJ beat her and Venus...

Venus...well that's another story...
