Australian Open Upsets

Postby Sloane Stephens » 19 Jan 2010, 01:42

This is a topic to talk about any upset...ATP or WTA that happened at the Australian Open.
I will start with the Sharapova upset...I certaintly didn't see that coming after watching her play venus in an exhibition and watching her play in Hong Kong. This is the first time she has ever lost in the first round of a grandslam. This raises the question: Is she still a force in women's tennis? I think she is!

Well dwayne for me she is still a force in womens tennis but i kinda expectet to be very hard for her in this match. But im also very dissapointet with Soderling loss 5-7, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2. after the first two sets i expectet a sure win for Soderling but how things were goin i kinda realized that he is in a very bad form.Im a Federer fan but seening his game against Andreev it made me realize that Federer might lose when he has an aponnent who play very attacky. :| :? ..but that is just my opinion.!! :P

Gah!!! He has been so stupid!! Ha has some truble with one of his elbow and he has played alot off matches just for fun before AO. WHY??? If he had been smart he would take care of that problem and not played!!
Playing just for FUN, and u should also do that ;-)

So long as Murray doesn't play like an actual babolat, Isner is going home.

Nothing to talk about today.. :( exepct maybe Hewitt - Baghdatis 6-0, 4-2 Ab. but Baghtatis had a sholder problem. And for me another suprise in womens draw Li - Hantuchová 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 LI served really strong Hantuchova shaky as usual! You have to agree with me that now exepct Serena, Henin and maybe Venus everybody is shaky and unsure.Thats way i hate that part in womens tennis nobody knows whats goin to happen whit the top seeds like Jankovic,Sharapova,Ivanovic..and many others who i question!I mean we see Jankovic on 1 tour coming to the final playin great and then BAM on the other one she goes home 3 round max!! :x

Hi people lets see for today i think this is the bigges upset of the day Cilic - Del Potro 5-7, 6-4, 7-5, 5-7, 6-3.When i saw how Cilic moved today attacked i knew there would be trouble for Delpo.Saw the match Cilic vs Tomic and the difference wow he was motivated and would do anything to win Delpo was missing in the most important moments and Cilic took the win.Next..Kirilenko - Safina 5-4 Ab. i was really looking forward too see safina win this this year Australia Open but i think that back problem is in the game at the worst moment for her!Next...Petrova - Kuznetsova 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 WOW what the hell is Petrova doing many many vicious forhend smashes and Kuznetsova made many backhand errors!Well thats for today see you tommorow people!lol

After seeing Henin surviving 3 set matches...although not against top players..i think she might reach the final. Jheng and Kirilenko will also be a good match. The winner of that match will most likely play Henin. On the other hand Petrova is playing well beating Clijsters..a player she's had an 0-4 record against 6/0 6/1...and then Kuznetsova..a player she's had a 1-5 record against in 3. She next plays Henin..a player she's had a 1-6 (i think it might be 1-5) record against. She might also cause another upset if she can pull of the W in her match against Henin. The bottom half is wide open. I honestly believe that if both of sisters reach the semifinals (despite whatever the experts and haters say, because they have many haters) then the winner of that match will be the Australian Open 2010 champion. Even if one does and doesn't make it (which is least likely to happen but anything is possible) then whoever makes it to the semi will win. 8-)

Hi everyone lets rewiev todays matches(upsets).First i didint think that Federer would have so easy job against Hewitt i thought that it will be a 4 maybe 5 set match but Hewitt did too much errors!Davydenko vs Verdasco i kinda expectet Verdasco to go but Davydenko plays really weird he will boost up his game just a lil bit and then go just down and down.My opinin is that Davydenko had luck in the few opening games at the 5 set Verdasco really had his chances but didnt use then.Djockovic is in TOP FORM 8-) i think he can beat everyone in this moment but he didnt have some opponents who can really make his grand slam harder!Tsonga vs Almagro i didnt see this match as it was really really late at my contry but for what i read on eurosport wasnt something that i didint know till now great services attackes but Almagro really proved that his game is good thats is way the result is 6-3, 6-4, 4-6, 6-7, 9-7!Ill just comment Li - Wozniacki 6-4, 6-3 Wozniacki i a pushe :? she is just trying to cross the net and it is nothing interesting eith that game! Azarenka - Zvonareva 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 i expectet this when i saw Azarenka winning the 2 set Zvonareva cant control her selfe..For tonight the match of the day and the best match of AO 2010 will be tonight Nadal-Murray it will be interesting Murray is in great form!! :P

Today at the Australian Open, Justine Henin will be taking on Nadia Petrova. Henin has a 12-2 record against Petrova and is favored to win this match. However, Petrova took out Kim Clijsters and Svetlana Kuznetsova (both of these women also had winning records against her), and is looking in great form. My prediction: Henin in 3. After that match it will be Jie Zheng taking on Maria Kirilenko. Not much to say here except no one expected these two to make it this far and Zheng has a winning record against Kirilenko(4-1). My prediction: Zheng in 3. Next match up is Andy Roddick against Marin Cilic. There head to head record is tied at 1 all. My prediction: Andy Roddick in 5.(My instincts is saying Cilic will win put I have to support my fellow American!) Finally it will be the match everyone will be waiting for....Andy Murray vs Rafael Nadal! Nadal has a winning record against Murray(7-2). My prediction: Since I love Nadal....Nadal in 4. (These are just my opinions and I'm more of a WTA watcher than a ATP watcher so feel free to correct anything I say regarding the ATP! :D  ) 8-)

Hey people lets analyse today! :D For me when you get past round 16 in a Grand Slam there are no more suprises anything can happen!Today i saw many thigs lets start with Murray - Nadal 6-3, 7-6, 3-0 Ab. Murray controled the match from begining and Nadal got that knew engury again so that didnt help either i expectet a 5 set 4 hour match but thats that :| :| Next.. Cilic - Roddick 7-6, 6-3, 3-6, 2-6, 6-3 OMG what is this guy doing at the begining of the Australia Open he played like out of shape form as he went on and on hes form was getting higher and higher Murray is goin to have a hard job beating Cilic who is in TOP FORM! Im not goin to comment the womens draw today because im sick soo i have to go and rest see you all! :D
