Amelie Mauresmo recently retired from the WTA.
I will remember her as one of my all-time favourite players.
She made the game so look so easy and fun, always coming up with an alternative and beautiful tennis.Miss you.
Bye Amelie
1.Serena Williams-to me,the clearest favourite. To cut the long story short-she simply has all the goods to win AO if she doesn't do so,it will be a surprise.
2.Justine Henin-the only reason i didn't put her as my N1 favourite is simply beacuse of the lack of matches. But Kim won USO the same way,and Justine is just a better player than Kim and a better than Serena. If she manages to pull it all off,the title is hers. The draw here could play very important role.
3.Kim Clijsters-i had a strong arguement with Leena in one topic and i was saying that there's no way Kim wins a title so early after she starts playing. And i wasn't even talking about a Slam. She proved me so wrong.Nevertheless,i still doubt Kim's motivation about seriously continuing to play, but she's gonna be huge in 2010 AO.
4.Elena Dementieva-yet again,i'm desperately rooting for this girl, but her chances are quite unreal against what seems to be one of the strongest Slams in years. At least considering the draw. She can beat all of the four above-probably could choke on Justine, but she has to be on her top every point,or play 3-setter that ends 20-18 in her favour. She had great 2009 and great 2009AO failing to the eventual champ,so she can make it to the final, but it's more that i want it,than to beleive it.Out of all 4,she probably is the fittest.
5.Svetlana Kuznetsova-always an underdog,Svetlana just keeps on playing, not brilliant, but just good enough,to still be concidered a major threat. But i just cant see her making it past the quarters, unless the players above smack each other before the SF.
Vika Azarenka could make a hit here.
It would be interesting to see how will Ivanovic play.
My vote goes for Serena.
