Mauresmo announced that she may even retire this year because she can't beat any of the top 20 players anymore...her game, psyche AND serve can't hold up...

She was a top contender back in the day, even won 2 slams, but that's all over now...

In short, the game has passed her by...

It's kind of sad in a way, because I DO think she had a great all-court game, what with her volleys and incredible backhand (both slice & topspin) but alas, I'm afraid that the mental side is what's really the culprit here...

after 2007, amelie was really not the same. i am really happy she won two gs in 2006 because it was really late as we see. she even could win the uso, henin wasn't good in final and she proved she could def maria by taking the second second set 64 (even if she lost the other two 60 :s).
momo's problem has always been forehand, but mainly mental. she was able to be reallt tough during some weeks and to be totally weak one month later. we know she could win rg. of course she is a net player, but she had such a great defense game and good topspin. she could do it, but it was a too great event for her. in the gaz de france open or in strasbourg, she didn't play bad because they are small tournaments, with small audience...
in wimbly before her win, she reached several times with a break in the second or the last set and she couldn't do it (the same story against safina in wimbly this year).

ok i stop with amelie, but at her best, she has a top 3 sere for me?

The had means 2006! or before it...
Or this year in Paris(indoors).
And Amélie's 1st serve is much faster than Safina's, Kuznetsova's and much more.
