Its gotta be federer hasnt it. I mean, hes won 14 grand slams, hes won them on all surfaces, he can do pretty much anything on the court, he has won 15 masters series, 2 less than agassi, hes won more prize money than any other player, hes a great ambassador for the sport, and you cant find a nicer guy. federer ftw

Another thing to show why Federer is the best player , he is only 28 , and won his grand slams in less than six years ( from Wimbledon 2003 to Roland Garros 2009 ) , while Sampras won them in 12 years( from US Open 1990 to US Open 2002 ) , Big difference
Richou has perfectly explained the other reasons

related to the last post:
-federer won all the grand slams in only 40 appearances while Sampras made in 52

definitely Roger is the best, at least from what i've seen

In addition to all the accolades and stats that have been listed above, Federer is the MOST COMPLETE player in the history of the game...at his best, he does EVERYTHING WELL with NO weaknesses...

There is no "GOAT". Plain and simple. Too many factors involved to make someone's goatness to be anything other than an opinion. But Federer is up there, very up there. But you could say he has not won a calendar slam, Nadal has given him enormous trouble, weak era(I don't think this though) etc...

All of the other past "greats" also have something missing from their accomplishments...for instance Borg never won the US Open, Connors, Sampras and McEnroe never won the French, lendl and Wilander never won Wimbledon, etc...

Also, as far as a "calender slam" goes, among the men, Laver and Budge only did it when 3 of the 4 were on the same surface (grass) and the competition was not all that stiff, either...

With Fed's records in consecutive semis, finals, career slam, plus 14 Grand Slam titles (probably soon to get the 15th) Olympic gold, etc...He HAS to be at the top of the list.

In time, Nadal may be only a "blip" on Federer's over-all resume...

Roger may be the GOAT, but even HE ain't perfect, but then, neither is anyone else...

It's still just an opinion, and people will always disagree on the subject. There is no GOAT.

No what I said is a fact. Do all tennis people agree that Roger is the GOAT? No. Can you in any way prove that Roger is the GOAT? No, it's just pure opinion and speculation. Point proven. lol Roger may be your favourite player, but I find all this GOAT talk very silly.

Technically speaking, it really doesn't matter if all tennis people don't AGREE that he is the greatest...the FACTS and STATS speak for themselves...they're the "proof".. 8-)
The ONLY thing missing is the "calendar" slam...(and the 15th, so far... )
