Women's tennis is currently quite horrible. She'll probably win Cincy in her 1st title back, and be in the top 30 after USO.

I really really dislike Saint Kim because she's a phony, and everyone loves to say how NICE she is. Phooey.

First, it's Clijsters. And I think it's a good idea. She could take advantage of the lack of a defined power structure in the WTA right now. That is if she can get back to where she was. It'll be interesting to check her progress at the exhibitions she's slated to play (Centre Court Celebration in May and vs. Michaella Krajicek--probably whiffed on that spelling-- in June and then World Team Tennis in July).

Women's tennis currently is as bad as it's ever been. When Vera Zvonareva wins Indian Wells, you know it's bad. Indian Wells was a pathetic tournament this year because without the Williams Sisters (and possibly Sharapova when she comes back from her injury) there is no one who is the clear favorite in any match she plays.

Ana Ivanovic is the most limited #1 player in history.

When Vera Zvonareva wins Indian Wells, you know it's bad.

Hey! I love her, but it's true. Just wait until she starts competing for #1, assuming Serena plays a weak schedule like usual.

It's a toss up between Ivanovic and Jankovic. Personally, I think it's Jankovic. But I'm not a big fan of hers.

I think the current state of womens' tennis is quite interesting in that you have a bunch of women that are pretty much in the same boat as far as skills and competitiveness... 8-)

It just seems that from what we've seen so far, no one will STAY #1 for more than a few weeks unless they TRULY earn and deserve it...and that INCLUDES anyone named Williams unless they too are totally committed...

If Kim can compete at anywhere near her past level, it just adds another log on the fire and just may help identify the real pretenders

Safina will be #1 shortly, mostly because of the great summer she had in '08, and Serena won't have a final on her rankings below Tier I (whatever that's called now) after Charleston.

Oh, women's tennis.

St. Kim probably won't play enough to be #1 again.

If only Justine would return too, and deny Kim slams like always. :applause:

Kim is a great player (or used to be)..

Winning a tourney right after coming back as Leena suggests is more than insane.Getting back in Top 30 after USOpen also. :argue:
I'm not sure if Kim really wants to get back to tennis professionaly again or play one more season just for the good old times.
If her injuries don't follow her again and she really makes a mark, she can and surely will be in Top 10.When-i dont know.If she wants to be consistent-she will be Top 10.

Kim is going to be a fresh breath to women's tennis.
I wish her luck even though i didn't quite like her even when she was N1.

Look at 2005, after her wrist injury where she couldn't even practice. Won IW and Miami with ease. If you don't think every player not named Williams would gag against her in any close match, we're not watching the same sport.

Yeah, Safina is #1 mostly by default and is just waiting for the next opportunity to gag it away...
Who else is set to dominate at that position?

Serena? Get real, she or her sister will only ever play enough DECENT tennis OR stay uninjured long enough to win a major here or there...

Serena's rough, off-balanced style of play literally TEARS HER TO PIECES physically...she can only play one or two tourneys back to back...before she pulls something... 8-)

Venus' time at #1 is a memory..she likely has one or two slams within her grasp (most likely Wimbledons)

Jankovic? Just a glorified retriever..she may not even be able to "out Kim" Kim because Kim is inherently more offensive minded...

Shrieking Maria's shoulder is held together by safety pins and crazy glue... :P
Take away her serve and you have Dementieva WITHOUT the movement...

Dementieva? Ivanovic? Kusnetsova? Dream on...

IF Kim can regain her movement, all but the Williams' are true "pretenders" and ain't in any REAL danger of winning a slam... 8-)
