Longest match ever?

Postby ATPexpert » 07 Jul 2012, 13:31

I cannot believe I played this match!4 sets went in tiebreaks, and the fifth one was unreal!I couldn't break Roddick's serve until 203. game, and he played like a machine in this match.I'm not sure, but I think this is the longest match in TE ever!If you played longer match than this post the final score on this topic.

I know right, five hours to beat Roddick on clay! :P

But seriously that's a ridiculous score! It's even too big for the scoreboard

Must have have been a tense match, 62 point tie-break

Is it five hours real time or simulated time?

A match like that would be about 15 hours, going by the Isner-Mahut game which was 11 1/2 hours for 70-68 final set, but didn't have four long tie breaks before it like that one.

Well, there's no breather between the points. The game just skips to the next serve,so yeah, with these intermissions it would definitely go way above 10 hours :)

There is also a simulated 'realistic' match time generated by the game

If you go to misc options and click on the button at the bottom left, it will bring up a list of all your match stats, find that game and the time in brackets will be the simulated time. It would be interesting to know what it is really.

Wow
I think the longest match I've ever played is about 1.5 hour only
I like to shorten the time spent with big serve. I also come to the net or playing dropshot quite often on clay so avoid time-consuming baseline battles.
Anyway, I think Roddick is pretty easy to be beaten on clay since his big serve is not so dangerous. You should stay further from the baseline when returning his serve especially on clay. I never allow my opponent to serve so many aces on clay. Just have a look at Nadal in real tennis, he stays far behind the baseline when retuning serve on clay. It is not like grass that you need to construct your points with the first three rallies. You can do more counter attack on clay.

I know, but I'm playing on Master 9 difficulty,so every opponent is very tough to beat.Roddick's fastest serve in this match was 234 km/h(his fastest serve ever was 249 km/h),so it was almost impossible to return most of his serves. Also,he was big favourite in this match,I thought I would lose in straight sets,so at the end it was big sensation, even though we played on clay

Is this in the year of 2003? This is going to make the game tougher.
But usually my opponent wont have more than 20 aces on me even if it is a 5-set match and he has good serving.(I am currently playing incredible1)
That's why I think you may stay too close to the baseline as I've watched some youtube videoes seeing people got bombed by 10 aces in a set even though the difficulty is pro 5 only and they stay really close to the baseline that they were aced in 2nd serve. No offence as I feel like this is the unrealistic side of the game that I have to stay far away from the baseline when returning serve.

Another question that pops up in my mind is that whether computer opponents will have mental problems?
You must be mentally strong in those tiebreak with so many set points to be saved.
I dont know whether the computer will take advantage in long matches since they won't have mentality things to be concerned.
