So, the new speed didn't change a thing on the return, if you return normally ; ie : you stand where the game puts you, and then you start to go left or right when your opponent serves. It's _exactly_ same than before. Take the needle out of your arm, smash your fix, throw your vodka away, and re-read this previous sentence 10 times, ok ?
If to return, you were going to the center of the court & then running to the side, then it's normal you get nailed by the new speed, though. But did you ever see any real tennis player doing this in a real tennis match in a real tournament, except in your psychotic hallucinations ?
If you do little left/right sidestep on the return, then check they are really little.
And globally, if you don't run all around when you should not, always guessing, you'll almost never be too much penalized by the new left/right speed conversion.

You sound a little disrespectful @drug and vodka stuff, i know you are joking but i am not.

Sorry Manutoo but i will talk for myself, who's saying this change affects the return of serve?

The change is more what comes after the serve and your own return, (*provided that i did not guess the return and aimed for a winner, which actually works with the game as it currently is), you have very little chance to get back into a rally. The only chance to make a rally going is to hit the shot deep, which does not happen every single time and once the ball is a little short you see the winner past by you. Wrong footing is a winner everytime, especially if the shot is hard. You can get back maybe 1, or 2 shots at most, but you end up hitting shorter and shorter (no footspeed to allow you to set up for a proper shot, or defend) and the posibility to win the point goes to praying that your oponnent misses the sitter.

Anyway you think you are affecting the players guessing during the rallies, you maybe think you are, but what you are creating NOW are players guessing on the returns of serve to hit their own winners. No rallies, this will actually be a paradise for serve/volley players because they wont be exposed from the back of the court with the game as it is...

I totally agree... returning first serve is so tough and returning 2nd serve is a winner with no doubts.. If you think it's realistic like now, it's really not.. Moreover, are there players in real tennis hitting +140 kmh shots 8 times in a row as in TE for power baseliners and also punchers? how can we defend them with this speed?
I usually don't complain about changes but when you change movements I DO complain cuz its my gameplay using it for about 2 years and I don't find any fun while moving like a turtle and getting millions of winners easily..

And uh.. I'm also able to control a bit better now, since i've HAD to practice a bit on grass and return.
I don't know if this would be enough to summarise everyones point about speed -> "WE CAN'T PLAY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD !" ':D I'm sure if you're not joking, no one is either..

Manutoo, it's just a game; we want fun, rallies.. If we want it perfectly realistic, there should be huge changes in the speed of fhs and bhs along with the net and it will be just boring.. So please give us the speed back. as you see 95% of players are complaining about it

but one question, my player is very slow now when playing online, i like it. but is it suppose to be like that?

Lol, the movement is like walking on eggs, what is this? You can just give the Wimbledon title to Florian, no need to play...Changing the direction of movement is so inefficient too, huge inertia. Defending is almost impossible for longer than 3-4 shots. WHAT A JOKE. You're supposed to slightly reduce the movement, not affect changing direction or reduce the speed by a huge amount...My player changes direction like he's a 100 kg fat pig.

I'm gonna guess everything, like everyone does anyway...good luck.

@Marcos Nion: You're a drug addict, I agree with Manutoo on this  This kid also added me on MSN a while ago then changed his PM to "Fuck you, Stajus" without even exchanging any words...I mean what kind of psychopathic kids wander around this forum...

P.S. Returning seems OK to me, but the movement in rallies is definitely too slow as there are no rallies over 10 shots? Maybe your grass speed needs to be altered then...

Couldn't have said it better myself. Best post in this topic :thumbleft:

I'd like to add that this clearly favours the best returners. It plays like grass in 90s, wtf?????????? It's 2012, hello? Back then the best serve and volleyers + returners would win Wimbledon ofc. Now Nadal has won Wimbledon quite a few times with a GARBAGE loopy return. And I'd argue that Fed's return isn't exactly amazing...he mostly just blocks the ball back...esp with those bh slices.

:S I don't know why I still only have two backhand slices and one return stance in my game. I have uninstalled everything updated it to the latest version of the game, but they still don't appear. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

WTF!!! :applause: :applause:
this game is becoming more and more unrealistic
1- it's so fast , pfff defending is so imposiible and the point is impossible to finish for longer than 3 shots ( ace or return winner  )
2- i think that the player doesn't move easily : i wanna tell u for example look to nadal how he moves with height 185 cm and weight 86 kg buuutt everyone knows in TE a player with this characteristics is like a buss or an elephant i swear that playing this game no is impossible is too boring , it's really unrealistic
so i hope u modify it and solve this prob as soon as possible ;)
Best result : Won [SAT]Pelotas / R4 RG 2012 / Won marburg

Yeah we all know that's what it is all about for you

In my opinion the change is a bit too big because as we can see it now hitting a short shot on grass is very often a direct winner and much more efficient than a normal attack, meaning there is something wrong. Drops are also very efficient now all of the sudden.

I also noticed several times some kind of bug at the net, it already happened to me 4 times, when hitting a hard volley supposed to be out, almost each time it hits the net and lands in the court...and net clips in general happen much more often...pretty annoying especially since there are only 2 kind of them : barely affecting the ball, or landing just behind the net...nothing in between. And I think you should consider the fact that a sliced ball almost never hits the netcord and falls on the other side, mostly because the rotation effect works backwards, usually stopping the movement of the ball, in the contrary of spinned balls who usually fall on the other side of the court.

So yeah anyway something needs to be balanced in my opinion.
