Argh! I hate this new version so much!

Counter style opponents are now next to impossible to beat as you CANNOT get a ball past them (#34 Henrieta Nagyova just beat me 6-0 6-1 and #31 Magui Serna beat me 2 weeks in a row 6-0 6-2 and 6-2 6-0 despite me recently having beaten Davenport, Hingis, Martinez and Novotna - all the other types of player). In version 1.0b I was beating these counter players 6-3 6-2ish (comfortably) and now they have just become impossible. Angled shots come back for a winner, power shots come back onto the baseline. Serve and volley is the ONLY tactic I have discovered works and on clay when you have a little more time to move into the net mid rally this works too, but there's only so many times you can do this suiccessfully.

I have 100% power for fh shots but on grass the acceleration is just never there, no matter how much time I have. Once in every 5 or 6 attempts at a power shot it will have the pace I am used to.

Angled shots (pressing up with a direction) are pointless as I havent come across a player who can't run them down and when they do, obviously their reply is going to be hard to deal with.

My doubles partners keep jumping out the way of the ball that is coming straight at them when they are on the ad side of the court (they put their racket out for a bh volley and just jump too far to the right without hitting it!)

Big one: I think CPU's reaction time is just too quick. It seems harder than ever to hit behind them as they always react instantly and seem able to just put the brakes on and race in the opposite direction much better than I can as a human player. Is there a delay on their reactions? Or is it instant?

I dont like that you simply cannot hit a powerful passing shot down the line when you have to run quite a bit. The fact that you have to run means you can't have the Fire 1+2 button pressed for long enough to generate power and the fact that you have just been pressing the same direction as the shot you want to hit for so long means that when you do go for the shot its just too hard to judge it!

None of these points are down to me just not being good enough! Trust me! I've been playing this game for years and have a successful but challenging career on incredible sublevel 6.

Jack,
I'm afraid you're too good to get a balanced gameplay.
At Incredible 6, the CPU almost doesn't have any reaction delay (he does in lower difficulty levels, though, this is the main factor influencing the CPU difficulty).
This low reaction time didn't change, but now, the CPU stops to run just before you hit the ball (since before v1.0c release, actually), so it's hard to catch him in opposite direction of his run, although it gives more space on the opposite side of the court.

Spin serves work nicely now. Game just keeps getting better, IMO. Suggestion: It would be cool to have 1st service variations of topspin and kick serves (with more pace) as well, not just second serves.

Hi Manu, one issue i have found while playing the world tour (pro 1) is that, on clay only, my second serve kick out wide, on both sides, consistently gets me aces. My player in general has an average serve and struggles to get many on first serve, while on clay the second serve kicker out wide I can bank points. I don't use it now as there is an element of spam about it.

Cheers,

Boris

Yup, that's right. It's been mentioned in the bug report forum earlier. Fire 2 + up + down (i.e., kick) out wide on clay = almost guaranteed ace. I didn't know it worked in deuce court as well, though.

It is certainly effective, perhaps over effective even down the center i'd say too......

Manu, stand as close as possible to service marker when u hit the serve. It should be fairly easy then. Ad court, as wide as u can get it. Id like to point out that theres nothing wrong with that serve itself. The CPU just cant read it very well.

lreese,
I tried that and I saw the serve squirting to the crowd, but my CPU opponent was still getting to it, even if it was to do a poor return (I had problem aiming the corridor lane, though ;) ), so I'd still need a .dmo to check that correctly...

Why is it now almost impossible in WT to hit an acceleration on grass?
My fastest shot is 11 mph slower than before. 88 down to 77

v.williams,
coz u take the ball too late, so it's too low. Take it more high, and you should hit stronger.
