Tennis Elbow 2011 v1.0b

General discussions about the 3rd edition of Tennis Elbow

There still seems to be a problem with the CPU player volleying the ball, then stepping completely away from the ball. You can see what I mean on the first point of the match. Also, the CPU players seem to poach a lot more, and further into the opposite side of the court than before. I've attached a zip of it. Within the first few games, you can see that, too.

Thanks!

sam250,
it's a limit within the game engine, so just check the Build number in the "Credits" menu.

it's written build 72 7.7 : does it mean that everything in the build will work for me?
EDIT: I found another problem for me :( : this "Announce : no more "2nd serve" announce when the 1st service ends in the net, and the "Fault Calls" are on "Realistic"" doesn't seem to work for me...
Is there a solution so I can make it work please??

SC Tom,
on the 1st point, it's kinda normal : the ball is coming on his stomach, so he jumps on the side to center the ball on his racket. After, he's on wrong side of the court, and he notices he's too far to play the ball, so he doesn't come back... It's not really perfect, but it's not too bad either, I guess... But for next update, I'll make him come back, I just tried & it looks more natural...
After, I changed 2 things for Build 72 :
- before, the CPU was telling to his partner : "hey I'm too far, so go get the ball" ; now, he says : "hey I'm too far, but it looks like u're too far as well, so I'm giving it a try anyway"
- and I loosened a bit the conditions to try an interception (if I recall well  )
so it's normal you see more of these now.

sam250,
no idea why the announce is still there ; I checked and it's removed correctly on the official version.
The Build number just tells you it's ok about game engine stuff ; but if you modded files from previous version, it can still create problems.

sam250,
if you downloaded the patch, modified files (since v1.0a) are in Pak02.Pak .

Hey, Manu...can you fix the following for the next update:

So, I lost two 5 set matches in Grand Slams 'cause of hitting a short crosscourt acceleration 1 metre out because the smoke came up and I wasn't aware I had no proper accelerations left...so, please move this smoke to the last good acceleration, rather than smoke appearing on the first bad acceleration...This way we'll know we have no good accelerations left and then it's fine

Cheers, Stan

My idea is to REMOVE completely the smoke because it is a little annoying and not realistic :P

Not a good idea. Many real players plays risic 2nd serves.

I agree with vikky, it's unrealistic how few dfs they hit compared to real players. It's also a joke how surprised people are after hitting these two or three per match. The risk should either be increased 4 / 5 times or just removed completely

I agree with Serena Williams and Mr. Schmith

Also regarding serves 1st serve % should be more equal between players, I don't how much it can swing right now but it is too much. Serve is such an important shot that some matches are simply decided by who gets more first serves in. It may be realistic that it varies a lot and may be good for offline play but online having so much depend on random serving can be quite annoying.
So the 1st serve percetange should imo be fixed to be (nearly) even between both players, I suppose to what number can vary match to match but that's not really important.

Also it is annoying when a tight match gets to 4-4, your opponent hits 4 great first serves and gets to 5-4 easily, then in your crucial game you get 0 first serves in and get broken. If the above suggestion doesn't help situations like this then I think something else should be done to eliminate this kind of situations

All in all the randomness of the serve should not affect matches as much as it is now.
