Help on Clay Court

Postby borrowedtime » 02 Mar 2011, 08:53

Hello everyone,

I find clay court to be extremely difficult. In career mode, players with stats much lower than me is able to beat me. The computer can last in very long rallies and hit aggressive through out with lower "stamina stat" than me. Also, each time I try to hit powerful shots, my shot goes out. The computer plays 100x more consistent on clay than other courts. Why is this? This only happens on clay courts. This is becoming rather frustrating. Thanks for your time.

Hello,

beating topspin defenders on clay court is surely quite hard, and require a different way of play.
You can't just bash them out like on hard surfaces, and it's not easy to reach the net in good condition.
So it requires a lot of patience ; you also need to stand farther from your baseline.
Turn on the Danger Zone for a few matches, it'll help you to see where you are supposed to stand and not do too much errors on acceleration.
You can try different things to win ; the most obvious is to be patient & do a good acceleration on the few shorter balls you'll get.
You can also try to make your opponent run a lot to make him tired by alternating long & short strikes, on far left & far right.
If you don't have much patience, you can try a rush-the-net feast, but be ready to be passed often.
Use the slice sometimes to force your opponent to do lower topspin (careful, coz if not long enough, he'll likely hit an acceleration).

Hopefully these few tips will help you...
