Slow Simming and Fast Forwar Until Next Event in Later Years

Postby Volleyguy » 07 Jan 2024, 07:31

I am simming 90 years (auto click Next Tournament, and only pick one tournament in Week 52 for the player), playing some matches in certain years. As the years go by, the simming and fast forward to event get very slow.

Is there something that can be deleted/adjusted to stop these from getting slow after many years?

Hello,

hum, I'm not 100% sure, but I think the game speed shouldn't lower even with many years played. Maybe it's because there are a lot of glitches reported in the log, and thus it slows down the game.

Anyway, there's nothing special to speed up the game, except lower the number of tournaments per year.

Side note : I sent an email to you a couple of days. Check your spam folder if it's not in the your inbox.

The video shows the issue.

It's not the game speed. The video is choppy - I think I have to change/sync FPS to get that to stop.

The issue is the slow down going to Next Tournament and the slow down fast forwarding to important events in a match. Both are very fast early, but after 30 years slow - slower and slower each year.

I am now simming again to the end so I can send you the requested files.

Ok, this looks quite suspicious. A low memory issue could lead to that, but apparently, you have 32 GB so that should be a lot more than fine.

If you close the game and launch it again, it's still the same speed ?

I'll try to check with your saved games once I'm able to load them. (check your emails)

Closing and restarting or even rebooting the computer don't address it. The issue is with the save. As the years progress, it's slower and slower.

In early years of a tour or late years, the memory use is about 48%, CPU around 11%, GPU around 1% as it goes week through week (pressing next tournament). It's not noticeably different in resource use when slow vs when fast.

Actually, your saved games for the crash report were at the very end of the 91 years, so I can't even play 1 match... ':D

Could you send me a saved game anywhere between years 60 & 90 ?

I got your saved game in 2034 and the mystery just deepened : the speed on the 1st, 2nd year and 2034 are all quite similar on my PC, although with some variations, but nothing near to what is shown in the video. :shock:

So I'm even more puzzled about what could be going on... :fear:

Could it be some funky behavior from your antivirus ?

Except that, I can't think of anything different : your RAM is more than alright, and the HD isn't used during the week progression nor the match skipping. :scratch:

Auto Weekly Save

It was on. When off, the delay between weeks disappears. It makes sense that it takes longer and longer to save as the tour progresses - more and more info to save.

The slow down on Fast Forward to Next Event is still present.

My Auto Weekly Save is on as well. So I just checked and it saves only on the weeks you play or when you have view CPU match activated (which is your case, I think :) ).

The game is not saved during a match ; only the match is saved and not during skipping. If you want to disable the saving (except when exiting the match), add this line in your Tennis.ini, under [Game] :
Autosave = 1
(HowTo => topic19-32161.php )

I will try that line.

Turning off auto save made a huge difference, but the skip to next event still slows down year after year.

Turning off "View CPU Matches" makes it run through the weeks very fast, even faster than clicking on Next with auto save turned off. That's a huge speed up for what I'm doing.

I tried to turn off Auto Weekly Save and turn on View CPU match, and the speed was about the same after 1 year & 32 years.

If View CPU match is off, then the game automatically advances till you have to play, while if it's on, it comes back every week to the World Tour menu (so you can choose what match to watch), and thus it creates a noticeable delay.
