FPS drops after nearly every rally

Postby onedevotee75 » 07 May 2023, 13:25

Hi guys,

i am new to TE4 and i have some performance problems with TE 4 after every rally in the game. I have the latest version (v0.84 Build 110 - 2023.5.5) of TE4 installed on my system.
In addition i have also installed XTK Mod and Scoreboard Mod. Looks great and thanks to all modders for this :)

The problem i have is that after each rally i get FPS frame drops when the commentary starts
When i start a match i have FPS around 130-140 (turned Sync of to see if the FPS are high enough) but when the rally is finished and the commentary voice starts the FPS drops to around 11-20 for a second which causes a lag.
I have tried different video settings from lowest to highest, also 2D Court on and off and tried to adjust the graphic settings but this doesnt matter, the FPS drops are still there no matter which settings i use. I also tried without the mods with the same result.

My system is not a high end gaming pc but should be enough to play TE4 with high settings i think:

Win 10 22H2
Intel i5 - 9400F
16 GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti 4GB RAM

Is there anything i can do to get TE4 running smoothly without buying a new PC? :)

Thank you very much in advance.

Hello,

hum, it's strange. At 1st, I thought it was because of the crowd applauding, but if you have turned on the 2D Background, there's no crowd anymore.

Did you try to turn off the commentary ?

I think overall your PC seems good enough, so the Fps shouldn't go that low. It's normal they go down when the crowd applauses, and at the start of the point it should have a micro-pause.

Did you try to run the game without any Mod to see if it helps or not ?

Hello Manutoo,

thanks for reply.
I have made some new tests. I started the game with the xkt mod and scoreboard mod on highest graphic settings.
Now i have turned of the "effects" in the audio section. So all audio was turned off.
With the effects turned off the fps drops are gone, only a little micropause as you mentioned after every ball. There the FPS drops down to ~ 54 FPS, which is the normal behaviour i think.
So there might be a sound issue.

I have a Realtek High Definition Card in my pc with drivers from 2019

Driver Version 6.0.1.8627
Driver Date 29.01.2019

these are the latest drivers i got. In other progs i dont have an issue with the sound.

I think i found it.
It looks like it was really a sound issue caused by old drivers.
I never got driver updates from win10 update before for my sound card.
now i manually checked "update driver" for the sound card in the device manager and windows actually found a never driver.

Now TE4 runs as it should :).The frame drops are gone and there are no lags anymore while playing on highest graphic settings and all sounds on.
Only there is the little lag after every point for a millisecond, but this is due to normal behaviour as you wrote.
