I can't figure out what the difference would be between setting it to "ask" vs. "yes".

if "ask", then the game will ask you before each qualification draw if you want to enter it or not.

And yes does what? Throws you in the qualifier automatically if you're ranking is too low for the main draw?

And does no mean you won't enter tournaments you have to qualify for? Or that qualifiers don't happen at all?
