Should our Player gets tired after a long match ?

Yes, it's more realistic, even if it can feel unfair in a video game

No, but make him get tired faster during the match, so in a hard match, tiredness will have some effect

No, and keep the tiredness like it is now, so only the most extreme matches will tire our player

[TE4] Should our Player gets tired after a long match ?

Postby manutoo » 28 Jan 2020, 11:15

Hello,

this request comes not very often but regularly : some people wish our player in the World Tour would get tired after a long match.

Personally, I think that in a non-manager game it's somewhat problematic, because it's double the effect of the bad luck : you got a tough draw, your matches will be longer & harder, and then you might just lose because your player is out of steam in the semis or the final.

On the other hand, the new tiredness system from TEM2 makes it nearly impossible to get tired in only 1 match, so if our player starts all his matches with 100% Form, he'll almost never get tired.

So if there's no tiredness carried over the previous matches, I may need to raise the tiredness during the match to give some effect to it. (this will apply to Training Club & online matches as well)

Note : the Energy & Breath bars can go down pretty fast, so during intense parts of the match you'll feel your player getting tired ; but after a couple of short points, he'll be back to normal. The Form (the Short Term Form more exactly) is the one controlling the accumulated tiredness over the match and that could be carried on over to the next match.
The Long Term Form will be removed for our player in all cases, as we'd have very little control over it (except by skipping tournaments).

What do you think about all this ? :blackeye:

Good morning,

Since I'm looking for realism, I think the game should make the player feel tired after one or two long matches.

But if possible, I reckon you should allow us to unable that for those of us who are not looking for that much realism and just want to take it easy.

In real life, especially in the grand slam events, we may se some players lose a match because they're too tired after playing a 4 hours match two days ago.

Also, it should incorporate to the game the fact that some players are not physical beings (Gasquet do you hear me ?) and are often disturbed by that in long events. (Realism again)
That's cruel but that's that way in real life :D :D :D
Dominic Thiem
Andy Murray
Daniil Medvedev

Always !

Hello All,
I have voted for Opt:2, although the actual answer is combination of 1 & 2. A player should get more tired during the match and at the same time carry some part of tiredness to the next match as well.
Opt:2 will be more effective, if tiredness going to apply to AI players as well. If this is yes then it will allow me to play a defensive game by forcing the AI opponent into a long rally and tiring him out. Hence this will provide one more option to construct a point without taking much risk.

Burned,
1) Yes, I will probably make an option to turn it off, but I wanted to get an idea if enough people were interested in the tiredness being carried over to the following match 1st. :)

2) Like in TE2013, there's the Stamina skill... ;)

noys390,
the CPU players' tiredness will be realistically carried over the following match.

In a best-of-3-sets match, you have about 0 chance to tire a player. In real life, players usually get noticeably tired only in the 5th set. (except if they are tired from previous matches)

But I might end adding an optional tiredness multiplicator, so tiredness will have some effect in the Training Club & online matches.
