Rob92,
for CPU vs CPU, I use Pro-10 to tune the stats in the most realistic way possible. For example, in my Nadal vs Federer both have around 90% on average in their skills.
When I test by myself, I also play again a Pro-10 CPU as it's supposed to provide the most realistic experience.
However, everything in the range of Junior-1 to Master-10 should give decent results.
If there are balance issues at Incredible-1 or above, right now I really won't care about them, as I still didn't finish to tune & build everything so it wouldn't make to worry about the Incredible level as it's really special compared to the other ones (ie: it has superhuman reflexes and boosted skills).

Strikeware203,
1) yes, now there's a Deadzone per player instead of 1 global Deadzone.

4) If I need to test something without the CPU looking for the win right away and send balls more to the center, I usually pick the Junior-10...

5) Yes, it'll have night matches

6) There's no way to change the crowd density

These are some stats from a set I just played, Murray (me) v Nadal on grass, Master-5 level, both chars picked straight from the World Tour but I gave Murray one star for slice mastery. Some impressions;
https://imgur.com/a/ocmq6Z5

- Grass seems very fast with low bounce, like old fashioned grass courts, serve was almost impenetrable with 0 BPs in the set.
- Despite both characters being fast/defensive style players, only one rally went over 8 shots in length with avg. of 3.6.
- Slice is extremely effective, I could BH slice to the opponent BH then short accel the slow reply to win my service points very easily.
- If I could comfortably hit an accel or short accel, I won the point it seemed 90% of the time, usually a direct winner.
- Very high number of winners for both players
- 1st serve% was extremely high using only b1, and effective enough to comfortably hold against a top character.

Hey Manutoo,

Are you supposed to edit the tennis.ini the same way as described in the ModdingSDK post? I followed the directions there but the settings I edit never get pulled in to the Tennis.ini on the main data folder. I'm not sure where to place the edited tennis.ini for the changes to stay.

Rob92,
Grass bounce should be closer to early 2000, similar to the grass-court in TE2013, which makes it a special beast to tune the gameplay on. As I did 0 gameplay test on it so far (only CPU vs CPU), I'm not surprised there are some issues with it. :blackeye:
I'll hopefully look into all this in the coming months. :fear:

type44,
be sure to close the game before saving your Tennis.ini .

Hello guys
First of all I had only a couple of games with TE4 .

Things I like : almost everything
- on serve receive I like the fact that players are less mobile then in TE 2013
- new animations make the game more immersive
- ad for te 2013 i like how tha ai respect the players style .

Things About I have some douubts :
- the ball feels slower than in TE 2013 . I don’t know if it’s a good thing or not but slowing down the ball make the game less smooth.
Sometimes I feel like the ball is not so natural in bouncing like in the previous version .
- serving seems too easy for me. Especially when you serve with acceleration button to the outside , it looks to me that this is a bit unreal . I love the kick serve to the outside . But the flat one to the outside mmm I don’t know...

Hope this helps

Hey Manu

I know you have talked about concentrating on common shots rather than a once in a lifetime shot, so I understand if what i'm about to ask is irrelevant.

Have you considered being able to hit a drop shot with so much backspin that it bounces back over the net? I appreciate it should be VERY difficult to hit but
it shows such great touch when players pull it off.

Taking a cue from Rob's post, grass should give a different gameplay flavour, the grass court characteristics depicted before y2k in TE4 is quite correct, there should be more winners and less long rallies. Here slices should be a better defensive weapon than a topspin strike. The problem is in a offline game, the cpu does not seem to make it any different on grass thus being less compititive at the baseline. Currently there is no cpu play-style or a talent available that will hit more backhand slice and dropshot to take the advantage of a low bounce court ( like Fed does). Maybe in future we can get it.

miketheslummy,
I think overall the ball has about the same speed as TE2013 when it leaves the racket (except the best accelerations are much faster) ; maybe the air resistance changed a bit though, especially on serves, so it's a bit slower when reaching the opponent.
Also, the default camera angle changed, which makes the ball travels less fast on the screen, so it could be an illusionary trick. So try to set up the camera like in TE2013 if you prefer that. However, I recommend the default TE4 view as it's easier to see the ball height, which is a huge part of the gameplay now.

tennisfan3344,
I think I saw such drop-shots only a couple of times in my life.
Anyway, now a perfectly hit drop-shot can have enough backspin to bounce back into the net. I don't know if it's possible for it to bounce above the net, though, but maybe there's a tiny chance if the trajectory has been high enough before the bounce.

noys390,
if the CPU has the Slice Mastery talent, it'll do a tiny bit more slices, especially on grass where the ball is often difficult to hit normally.
But overall, it might require some heavier tuning for the CPU to play more gracefully on grass... :blackeye:

All players have the same style of play and they never slide to reach a difficult ball, that would add a lot of realism. I also find it very hard to play so far.

juaneco,
you didn't play TE2013 before, right ?
In what difficulty level are you playing ? Try to lower it till you're more comfortable. Also, don't turn off the Helpers (ie: the Danger Zone & Aiming Preview) as long as you don't understand well all the game rules.
Once you get better, you should likely feel more clearly the differences between the 9 play styles, and then also the other differences, mainly the topspin level, but also everything else coming from the different skills.

p_a_s_s,
do you mean the players aren't animated during a match ?
Send me a Bug Report when you see the issue. (HowTo => topic5-31732.php )

fabos,
what is the "paire look" ? You mean they have all beard ? In the World Tour ?
And which was serve number do you have a bouncing glitch during its preparation ? Could you send me a Bug Report when it happens ? (HowTo => topic5-31732.php )

Werner,
I'll try to do it, but not sure when... :fear:
