[TE4] Concern about development speed

Postby juanabolche » 26 Nov 2019, 20:38

Being as comprehensive as I can of the work ahead and the times of the developer, the truth is that I am very insecure about the current progress of everything, and for the moment I have not been encouraged to buy the presale of TE 4.

I know that maybe I shouldn't, and I already apologize, but the absence of real progress information lately gives me bad feelings.

As you can read in the dev diary Manutoo is primarily focused on his family right now, so he has slowed down by a bit all the work on TE4.
I hope progresses will come, as right now TE4 is just a more sluggish version of TE2013 with some new textures and reworked strikes.
Also there is no real competitor in the market coming out in months other than that AO scam game, so there is no need for manutoo to really show off everything right now.
Just don't buy the pre alpha and wait for something you will be enthusiast to play :p

juanabolche,
as pointed out by TheMarksman, read here to have an idea about what's going on : viewtopic.php?p=265460#p265460 .

You also can notice here that the game just got 2 updates in the past 8 days : viewtopic.php?p=265986#p265986 .

The good news is that you don't have any obligation to purchase the game now ! :)

I'm very thankful to everybody who did that so far, as it obviously feels risky because most (all ?) developers around the world are very often late, and I personally got delayed a lot in the past few years with the changes in my life. :blackeye:

But of course, you can wait for the demo to be sure you'd like to purchase the game or not, no worry.

TheMarksman,
I'm sorry you feel about that about the current state of TE4, and I'm a bit afraid once it's done, you'll just add "and it has some new anims" to your description...

Personally, I'm already happy with what the game has to show, even if obviously we're quite far from completion ; but the physics improvements are tremendous (at least for people looking after realism :) ), the new menus are very welcome, the World Tour improvements are nice (eg: Olympiads, random future years, etc.), and the 3D stadiums are a big step forward (of course, we're still far from AAA productions, though).

Maybe you're waiting for improvements in the gameplay ? Some are planned, but it shouldn't have anything really groundbreaking.

Hmm I'm surely looking after realism, but a game should also be played, and that was what TE2013 was about.
Reworked slice is on point, I'm not sure about the movement to be honest, I'm feeling it sluggish and I'm sure I'm not the only one, probably it's just a matter of habits with the old game, and a different positioning obviously influences gameplay, making everything different.
I feel like I've got to play it online to have a complete idea of the game.

I understand, thanks for your dedicated response Manu.

Next month I will be buying the presale, so I also support the development of the game.

TheMarksman,
the player speed is realistic, but it's a recurring complaint, so I have planned to give an optional boost to their initial acceleration speed.

juanabolche,
thanks for your understanding & incoming support ! :)
