Xbox 360 controller

Postby Newbie » 28 Mar 2010, 22:49

I've been playing the demo of this excellent game, and I want to buy the full version, but I need to know how to get it to work with my Xbox 360 controller for Windows. The controller works with all other games, but with TE, the controls just move randomly all over the place.

Any suggestions?

Hello,

does it give problem in the menus as well ?

Is your controller totally centered in the test page of the "Game Controllers" of the Windows Configuration Panel ?

Maybe try to open the "Tennis.ini" (in your TE2009 folder), and change these lines, under [Controller], from :
JoyDeadZone = 0.25
DxJoyDeadZone = 25
to :
JoyDeadZone = 0.50
DxJoyDeadZone = 50

I have a Xbox 360 controller and the down left pad is very sensible : it's kinda hard to just aim left/right without pushing up or down... Except that, it's working well...

Yes, the menus go completely nuts as well. Not only does the selection fly all over the place, but buttons appear to be pressed. It's very strange, as it's calibrated and works just fine in all other games.

My current settings in tennis.ini are

JoyDeadZone = 0.25
DxJoyDeadZone = 25

Your suggested change seems to be the same as the original setting.

Ideally I would like to play the game on the non-analog d-pad, so the controls would work the same as on the keyboard, but analog would be ok too, I guess.

Illepingis, my Xbox controller is actually a USB wired controller specifically for Windows. Not sure if a standard Xbox controller can be used with a PC.

Newbie, sorry, I forgot to edit the lines, so it's actually :
to :
JoyDeadZone = 0.50
DxJoyDeadZone = 50

If you unplug your xbox pad, everything is back to normal ?

Illepingis, I have, like Newbie, a USB Wired Xbox 360 Controller, so I can plug it in PC or an Xbox without problem. (actually, I don't have an Xbox, but the seller said so ;) )
If you have a wireless Xbox controller, but no USB adapter for its receiver, then you should buy one and u'll be alright, I'd guess...

Thanks Manutoo, unfortunately those settings didn't help either. Everything works fine without the joypad.

If you have the wired controller, which I recommend for the PC, you need to download drivers from Microsoft. Works fine then.
