Hello manutoo, first question, when we will be abble to play TE 4 like Tennis Elbow 2013? Not choosing stars like in TEM , and just choose a player and play seasons mode or career mode? And how to increase speed of the match when turned on Dev Mode? Its not with * anymore

In world tour , top players are playing around 13-14 tournaments per season in doubles ? Djokovic won 2-3 doubles gs in single year... Nadal also, how can i fix that . Not only them all top30-40 players play almost all the time doubles. There was even ocassion when nadal played only doubles at US open and not singles ,.please fix that.

Well, not really directed towards the prototype but more so to the final version. For context, I only play against Incredible level opponents.

I think the groundstrokes have that realistic feel/timing that no other game with 100x more budget has gotten even remotely close to.

There is room for improvement in the volleys as they don't have that "feel" as the groundstrokes. The dropshot also needs more "feel". You know that no matter where your opponent is, he/she will chase down that dropshot and you'll have to hit one more shot (Master level). Will wait for the first version to see the new improvements as right now it's a mix between TE '13 and TE4.

And also some unknown players are playing incredibly well , which is annyoing , A.Sa , A. Waske and some more others. I want to ask also , where i can find file players.atp because the one in TEM 2 doesnt correspond with TE4. I checked and Nadal + DJokovic should've retired by end of 2018, but they play till end of 2020, Federer also.

iopzzza,
1) When I created the player base, I took the best doubles year to tune the doubles participation rate, thus the results you see.

TEM is not supposed to 100% realistic and I like to slightly promote doubles... :-)

If you don't like that, you can lower the SingleDouble value of the top players in your Players.ATP.ini (it should take only a couple of minutes).

However, it's a bit strange Djokovic & Nadal are winning GS. Is it the fictional years ? (2019 & up)

2) Player base format has changed ; now the fictional years are generated in real-time for each of your careers. So if you play in 2019 and later, they are fictional years and it's expected to see very good new players.

LoSublime,
the Master CPU has already supra-human reflexes, so it's normal the drop shot doesn't work well on him. However, when I'll be working on the gameplay, you'll be welcome to send me .dmo of points where you think the drop shot should have been a winner.

What I can tell from my experience from playing TE2013 and little gameplay I had for TEM2, that it is almost impossible to hit a dropshot winner from behind the baseline even on lower difficulties, the CPU always seems to chase it down. Same is the case when CPU makes a dropshot from baseline, I chase it down. The dropshot bounces higher than it should be, giving enough time to chase it down. I have not played TE4 yet, but if we have the same code, the situation is likely there as well.

No , i checked the players.ini and Nadal, Djokovic and Federes should've retired by 2019, but they still play in 2020.
And the players i talk about are in 2005,2006, Guys like Gimelstob, A.Sa and others never known play ultra good.

It's not that it doesn't work well on him, it's that I've never been able to hit a dropshot winner in +1000 matches against Incredible level opponents. I can hit dropshot volley winners easily though.

I recently made the transition from TE2013 to TE4 so I'll send you some .dmo next week. If you need testers, let me know.

Hey Manutoo, i think you should fix some players career length. For example Djokovic is supposed to play after 2020 yet he retires , and also how can i find players.ini? I cant see it anywhere :(
Also a nice addition would be if for example when playing world tour with your player you could always check career stats of other players, which titles they won, how many times and other statistics (more detailed i mean like your statistics).

Hey manutoo, I noticed some bug with a backhand animation. When I put on Wawrinka's backhand animation, when playing, half the time my player does Roger's backhand animation.

Re: Comments about TE4 Prototype

After playing against Incredible level players, here are my thoughts:

- First impression: Even more real than TE'13. No other tennis game comes close to the realism of TE4.

- Serve: First serve has improved a lot. You can now hit aces with each type of serve if it's placed well. I do see that first serve speed has been limited for women. I think the hardest I've hit is 123 mph, but I still need to get used to the timing of it. I'm hoping the limit is at 131 mph (current world record for women). Second serve has been nerfed a lot (as it should have). The problem is that I've been hitting so many return winners off second serves. Even if they are at 87-90mph, I can still hit a return winner pretty easily. The kick serve needs more bounce to actually "bother" your opponent.

- Groundstrokes: Superb as timing is even better than before. You can see all the different ball trajectories. It's easier to open up the court as well now. I would nerf the slice though. It is way too aggressive at the moment. You can't have more difficulty in replying to a slice compared to a heavy topspin shot.

- Return: Return has been improved a lot as well. If you time it well, you can hit very aggressive returns right from the get-go.

- Volleys: The animation technique is wrong. Players are hitting volleys with an open stance. Also, the racket head needs more of a stab. It feels like you are flat-footed at the net. The running animation from the baseline to the net also needs to be improved.

- Drop shots: As I said before, still can't hit a dropshot winner even if the player is on the opposite side and way back. However, compared to TE'13, they have more difficulty getting to it and hitting a decent counter-shot.

- Movement: I think these animations still need work, but I understand they can be very difficult to work with. Sometimes, movement feels very heavy and clunky. I'm having fewer rallies compared to TE'13 where the opponent ran everything down (they are hitting a lot more unforced errors now as well).

I agree. I dont know why manoo cant work on animations running. When approaching the net and back, the animations are weird and not real. We need real running forward and back running animations...

Wow guys! Let's calm down here. No need to make a big mess out of a small thing.
polakis and LoSublime, it is true that manutoo has said he is working on it.
Also, let's try to be a little more comprehensive, the guy's working alone. We can learn to appreciate the outstanding work he's done so far. :D
