I play with the demo version, I need some precisions

Postby Eamon » 15 May 2019, 19:14

Hi everyone

I was a master at 2700 elo like 10 years ago then I had to stop the game for my studies.

I decided a while ago to play again this game. But a lot of things seem to have changed.

1/ With my demo version, I can't change the camera. I mean I can do it during the training session but I can't do it during a match. Plus if I change the camera while not training, my changed are not recorded for the real match..I remember that camera settings were very important back then to find the most comfortable position to play.

2/ Some settings have completely changed? I'm playing with a "puncher" type of player like I did in the past. I think I got almost the same settings as in the past. But still the experience is totally different. I'm barely 1400 elo..It's probably due to the camera angle but also, I can't return the ball correctly, meaning that I almost never can give the direction I want.

Any help?

It's kinda frustrating ahah!

Hello,

1) with the trial, once the trial time is over, you're forced to play online with the 2D courts ; offline, you still have access to the 3D courts, thus the difference in cameras

2) a lot of things have changed since 10 years, but according to your message history you were still playing in 2014 and it didn't too many big changes since then. You can check most of them in this topic : topic15-19172.php .

Thanks for the answer but this is quite sad.

Indeed back then you could change the camera angle even with the demo version.

Winning a match really depends on the return which widely depends on the camera angle.

So it's not a matter of skills anymore but a matter of money.

2D court camera is pretty close to the default 3D court camera ; there's no real disadvantage.

It has been like this since 2011 and I don't recall anyone complaining about that.

The only issue with the 2D court is to return serve from a server standing far from the middle of the court, but it's forbidden by the online tournament rules.

I disagree. When you can set your camera to open the vision of the court, you can see everything.
When someone serves, I can't even see where the ball goes if the ball is well hit on the sides, meaning that I send my player to a dark zone, expecting him to hit the ball decently, which does not happen.
