I, personally don't feel the need for Hawkeye in TE...
First of all, in real life pro tennis matches before Hawkeye, it always infuriated me when the linesmen made a bad call on an important point, or the chair got involved and wrongly overuled from the opposite sideline...

My point is that Hawkeye is great for real-life tennis matches, but I'd much rather have my computer tennis games without mistakes (real or pre-programmed.)

Besides, as has already been pointed out, it would only slow down the online games (especially the way that so many already seem to abuse stuff/cheat and so forth) and the time and money could/should be more wisely and practically spent elsewhere in game improvement...

Hawkeye would be a fun addition. It's a cool feature in SCT3, but still feels kinda pointless. It would be a lot of work for Mr. Rivoire to properly add it, and it would increase file size. Let's face it, we're not buying this game for aesthetics.

I'd like the ability the complain to umpires. Which could be done well back in the Genesis days on World Cup Tennis. I'm sure it would be abused online, but whatever. :)

I've never seen a ball yet that did not seem to at least touch the outside edge of the line while playing TE...maybe because the computer is pre-programmed to be virtually perfect in that respect, ya think?

I've noticed that the game is quite off in certain out calls.

I agree. Thats the magic of computer program and the computer itself. They are perfect in this area. Obviously, hawkeye is mainly aesthetic, just for the additional visual enjoyment of the players. In my opinion, why not, somehow I will enjoy the visual part of it, although we dont need this, but surely it will take some of our precious computer memory. But since TE is not that memory hungry by nature, and that almost all computers are powerful enough nowadays(are there any legacy computer nowdays?), let Manutoo decide to this. If I will be asked, I prefer that Manutoo should concentrate on animations of TE, improving the animation to be more realistic. I dont care if the animations doesn't pattern any of famous tennis players as long as its realistic. That is in my opinion one of the most important Manutoo should do.

There is absolutely no point in having hawk eye in a video game. If the line judges are incorrect in real life, fair enough theyre human, but in a game where its AI, i wouldnt have thought it necassary.

It's not necessary per se. It's just fun and helps cure our conscience. It doesn't necessarily have to be elaborate either, just after a point have a control where a player can press "H" or something and it brings up a zoomed in replay and a sign saying "In" our "out". It just makes the game more fun and realistic.

Its not going to do your conscience any good knowing that the line judges may call balls out either....it would be a nice feature to have, but its just not necessary.

Hi everyone!

In my opinion hawkeye would really make the game realistic. For those who say it is unnessecery I say I don't wan't it because I don't agree with the line calls. I would just like to have a good time while playing the game and feel like a real player in a grand slam maybe. I imagined this like there is a key which you have to press when you want to use hawkeye. there should be a limitation. So a player can't use more than 3 hawkeyes in one set. I think everyone would like it.

That's my idea,

Hey Haas,

It is a fairly subjective and ambiguous idea in my opinion. But yeah sometimes I agree, some line calls are absolutely ridiculous, like sometimes I swear I got that serve in with half a ball in while serving down the T, or making baseline shots that clip the very edge of the baseline. Sometimes my opponents hit a bit too wide as well and still call it good. Yea, it is frustrating -- but hey look if it were realistic enough that Hawkeye is possible for this game, then hey that would be really exciting. But like i said earlier, pretty difficult to do! Maybe draft it out on java code or c++ :S :S.

Cheers mate, and hey I don't blame you!

Do you think java code would solve this problem? I don't have any knowledge in it, but I lokk around on the net. I try everything to make it.

I guess using java is just like a textual storyboard -- ie. a brainstorm of how it works.. Anyways i got the first step in how this system could work --- we should create like a 20-25% chance that the linesperson calls a ball OUT when the ball is actually visibly GOOD. Or also, have it the other way as well -- ie. 20-25% chance that the ball is left as GOOD when the ball is actually visibly OUT. So spanning from this, its up to US AS PLAYERS whether to challenge THOSE TYPES OF "LINESPERSON MISTAKE" CALLS or not.

In my opinion, lets create this as an option before playing matches. You know -- Hawkeye/challenge rule either ON or OFF in the settings section. We should implement a hotkey to challenge -- for example, press the "c" on the keyboard or something.

Ok now for the CPU-controlled player in using the hawkeye system -- if its on he can maybe have a 50% chance of challenging a shot if the CPU wants to (so yeah with the % chance, make it neutral and as seemingly 'fair' as possible -- (ie. enough chance that he can make a fair call if he wants, and enough chance that he won't waste the 3 challenges like an idiot either).

Then from there, we can take it further if we want to get more complicated, for example challenging tight balls that just miss or just kiss the line (but maybe lets not go too fast yet there -- just consider the first-hand basics above). Then implement replays for serving, then losing a point if you leave a shot that you think was going out, but was actually in (but called out and the opponent challenges and gets it right -- a bit of Roddick vs Gonzalez AO'10 4R there perhaps?? A bit of controversy!! XD). Then maybe a dispute's system can be arranged -- but like i said, lets not go that far yet lol. But moral of the story -- play every shot even if u think its going out (until a linesjudge says otherwise, then play stops automatically xD)!!!

Anyways those are my suggestions as to how to get this started first of all. Hope you guys like my first up idea of how we might go about this!!

But we don't suggest it, because it is necessary, but it would be a great fun. You can have the feeling of a real player on court. I can't believe that it is not your dream...
