Doubles matches

Postby iLoveRF » 23 Aug 2017, 10:11

Hi, I've got some questions regarding the doubles:
1. Is there any way to make the camera to be always focused on my player (not my CPU partner) in a doubles match? Since I don't use the default camera, in doubles match the camera doesn't always follow my player.
2. How does the "Set favorite doubles partner" work? I can't get my favorite players to play with me.
3. Is there any plan to improve the net play and volleys? I think even a simple training mode for volleying would be nice. Also it would be nice if I could tell my partner whether to come forward or stay back during a match.

Hello,

1) No, but you can change the camera to Fixed or Scrolling, it'll be easier to keep an eye on your player with these ones

2) Your favorite partner needs to be available (ie: not registered nor player another tournament) and with a rank not too far from yours to be listed in the possible double partners screen

3) You can train to volley in the Warm Up mode of the Training Club, by standing near the net all the time.

4) What should be improve in the net play ? The only planned thing for TE4 is to make reflex volleys more error prone to put to a quicker end the hilarious but unrealistic volley duels... ;)

1. It's not a big deal since I don't play much doubles but it would be nice to have this option maybe for TE4. I like the dynamic camera mode with lowered height and full aperture, which makes me feel like i'm in the game :) Also this way you get a better feel for the height and speed of incoming balls.

3. For training, i think if you can add a ball canon that shoots the ball towards the player (different shots, speeds and directions) is better for volleying practice . Also maybe another mode just for service practice.

4. TBH I don't know what exactly should be improved for net play, but at the moment it feels a little clunky and cumbersome. My problem is that I can't volley consistently and reliably. Even after playing so much and practicing a lot, i still feel like my net play hasn't improved much. I think the problem is that positioning is very hard in front of net, since you can't stretch your body to reach the ball and instead you always have to take some steps. Since there's very little time to adjust your position it results in some rather easy misses.
I've seen some of those long volleying rallies especially in doubles, they're pretty funny though :D

3) Yes, both are planned

4) I think right now the balance between volleys & passing shots is decent ; if the volleys were more easy, volleying would quickly become OP. :fear:

Thanks for the responses, on a slightly unrelated note, is there any option to disable auto-strike(when the player automatically hit the ball)? I've never found it useful and it's annoying specially in doubles when it happens a lot of the time even though the ball is not near the player. Sometimes it actually slows my player down.

It doesn't slow down your player. If there was no auto-strike, very often you'd not be able to hit the ball in time, especially with strike anims having a long preparation.
