Reducing the Blackness/Intensity of the shadow

Postby jesp8000 » 13 Sep 2009, 09:09

Hi Manutoo,
I am not going to ask about gameplay technicalities thing in here, they're already being asked and discussed by others. I will go to other side, the customization. I know, this area is quite discussed or payed attention. For days, I am customizing my TE, new surface textures, setting different camera angles, changing the characteristics and location of the sprites, make a nice looking realistic net etc. But I am bothered with the intensity of the player shadows. Its too black in my opinion. The real shadows is not that black. Is there a way to make the shadows of the players lighter? Its just that I cant find the code to change this, or maybe if I missed it, can you spare me where can I change it? Thanks, again.

Hello,

it's currently not possible.
For next update, you'll be able to change this line in the Tennis.ini, under [3dEngine], from :
ShadowColor = 0xBF000000
to (for example) :
ShadowColor = 0x3F000000

Else, could you show me your new net art ..? :)

Hi thanks for the reply. Im happy to hear that it will be availble soon. Ok here is my version of the net. Its not yet very polished, due to resolution issue, its what I can do for now. By the way, I am experimenting with other parts of the tga. Please excuse if I change something on the arrow. Right now, I am trying to make the net finer if possible. Anyway attached are also the sample courts with net and my new surface texture and lowered camera setting. Im not satisfied yet with my grass though. Thanks.

Nice net... :)

You can double the size of the image "Data/MiscSprite/Misc_00.tga", or even possibly put the net in his own separate image, by changing "Data/MiscSprite/Net.txt"

Hi Manutoo,
I tried the Net.txt option. I made my tga a bit higher resolution and put the actual pixel values in Size portion of the net.txt and the name of my tga to the Page line but it didnt work. It still uses the default misc_00.tga. I even tried to insert a new line called Realsize but its still the same. Did I missed something here? For now I use the first opiton. I doubled the resolution of the misc_00.tga and put my own net there and I like the result, the net is finer now. I dont know if using the net.txt will be better though. Anyway heres the screenshot of my new net, two versions, one darker the other lighter.

No idea what went wrong with the "Net.txt", but anyway, both solutions should give the same result, so it's fine like this... And the result looks good..! :)
