Thanks for the update! Is the 4th forehand Nadal? Can't wait to try out the new features :D

But what's up with the CPU in this?

EDIT: It seems as if all female players are missing a part of their arms!

When you are reaching for a shot now and it catches the edge of the racket and flies out of court behind you, is that an error?

X-Ter , ooops, that's right... I just corrected that, and u can re-download the game, it should be alright now... ':D (it was happening only with the low detail model, not the high one)

that_dood, yup, it's counted as an error.

Should it be? It is hardly an error from the player when they can't reach the ball for a shot and only just clip the ball. Good placement from the opponent.

But I like that feature, ads another dimension when trying to chase down wide balls.

Some other weird bug: some CPU players only serve down the centre at 86 mph. This obviously makes it really easy to beat their serve

I've uploaded a match in which the CPU served the exact same way each time. This didn't happen when I played Verdasco

Hi Manu,

OK, here's what I noticed from playing the CPU with the new animes...
Most are good, some maybe need some tweaking

1.) With the Federer topspin backhand, too often he's hitting the shot off of the wrong foot (even when he has plenty of time... :?
I realize that in reality there are emergencies when you don't have time to set up properly when you are jammed by the incoming ball (such as when returning a hard 1st serve), but it's happening WAY too much with this build...You can get away with this kind of open stance much better with the 2 hander...
I noticed that sometimes he hits it the "old" way, but more often he's too open now..
I very much liked the movement the way it was with build#35, but if you could tweak this movement a little more it would probably be correct...maybe you could have him take more of a cross-over step with the right foot (for a right-hander)
If not, could you just put it back like you had it before? (pretty please?)

2.) Also, when he has to run fast to hit a backhand there's some weird sort of desync between the upper body and the legs: in reality one could SERIOUSLY wrench their back with this sort of movement
Again, it's because he's hitting off of the wrong foot..(it kind of looks like his upper half is separating from his lower half :P )

3.) When he's running forward to hit a short ball with the backhand he again kind of skips off the wrong foot ( it's IMPERATIVE that you be on balance when running FORWARD with the 1H backhand...)

Now for the GOOD stuff...
Thanks much for the new Federer racquet...WAY COOL :applause:
I really like the new volley moves, and the preparation for the slice backhand seems quicker/more correct... :)
The running forehand seems much better than the running 1H backhand..
.
Rafa's reverse finish forehand, backhand and serve look EXACTLY like the real thing!!!

As I said in the other post, could the other forehand be Novak's?

Thanx for all you do!!

p.s. Just for the record, is there a way to load the player/anime attributes/characteristics from one build into a previous build using the .ini...?

that_dood, I'm not sure how they count this error in real ; I did it like this so the Match Stats would look a bit more like real ones... ':D

X-Ter, bug fixed, you can re-download the game now

btaylor, I didn't change the old strikes (Federer BH, BH Slice), but now, the feet will run when needed, and it's not really possible to make it better without a huge tone of work.
You can save your player by using the "Save" button in the "Character Sheet" menu...

Normally in tennis there's a division in Forced Errors, Unforced Errors and Winners...

Hi Manu,
As far as the UPPER body swinging and striking the ball, that's fine...it's just that the legs seem out of sync with the upper body, that's what I meant...

C'mon Manu, 8-) I'm POSITIVE that you improved the slice prep time, it used to be that if the ball arrived too hard, even if you tried to prepare the slice it would default to the topspin STROKE, even though the ball would travel as if hit by a slice...now it doesn't do that...

Did you mean to say that it would or wouldn't take a ton of work?

If it's not too dificult to do, do you have a rough time-table for the next update that would include these changes?

The volleying game is better, though b1 strike and topspin strike when at net results in a lot of shots going out long.
And I'm happy the slice animation now shows no matter how late in advance you prepare. Before, if it wasn't hit early enough, it would do a normal strike with a slower pace which I thought was too slow for a slice shot, but now it is correct.
Would still like to see a feature in the .ini to let us modify the number of net jumps manually, if possible
But net game has seemed to improve with the latest build, except for the 1 issue I stated above.

Hey Manu,

One more observation (just constructive critisism) 8-)

In the "modern serve" right handers should land on the LEFT foot after the serve, left handers should land on the RIGHT foot...
For reference, check out Sampras, Federer, Nadal and ALL of the other pros...including the women

Back in the day, say, ending with the '80's (Noah comes to mind) some right handers would land on the right foot, opposite for some lefties...

I know that some of these adjustments take a hell of a lot of time and work, and don't think that we don't appreciate your efforts, but it'll pay off in the long run because you're coming oh so close to perfection with TE... :applause:

Very good improvements.

Net play is really enjoyable now, when i attack and when i must pass. The game is a little bit slower, and it seems more modern, with these rhytms. New anims rocks.

But since i'm never happy :) i write some little points:

-the new ranking points, with new tournaments classes (250, 500, 1000, GS), if it's not a choice to take the old.
-new shots "missed" with the ball over tribunes, must not be counted as unforced, they aren't.
-if a player come at the net, and the opponent hit the passing shot out of court, it should be counted as a net point won in the statistic, i'm not completely sure but i think it is not as i wrote.
-would be great if drop shots could hit the net or could remain in the player's court, and not just on the other court or long/wide.
-high volleys animation. or at least make more easier and little bit powerful the volleys "over the head" (except lobs)
-a penalty a little bit too high when a player change completely his directions when he's running (to avoid having too much Nadals in the game :D )
-cpu unforced errors more various (less wide shots, more long shots and nets)

Amyway, great update.

btaylor,
I didn't change the slice anim, but : "Animation : if started a strike that shows the slice animation (ie: slice or dropshot) and then change to another type of strike, the animation will morph to the normal strike style ; and vice versa from normal to slice animation"
And yup, it's too much work to do any significant improvement to the animation system.
About the service, it's a mistake : I forgot to prevent the separate leg animations during the serve landing, it'll be fixed in next update.

swissmade,
if they don't change the point system by then, it'll be in TE2010... ;)
About net point, do u know a website that gives an exact definition about how this stat works ?

Sorry Brad1981, I skipped your message last time, as it was sandwiched between Btaylor's ones... ;)

So I thought I already told u, but here it goes again : there's no limited number of jump, except that you can do only 1 per strike. And the jump speed & distance depends of your player style.

I don't know where i can find it and if exist an explanation, but the atp statistic say all, NET APPROACHES, they count all the times when a player come to the net, if he play one, two or ten volleys or if his opponent fail the lob or the passing shot. If not, the statistic would be called NET PLAY or something like that...am i maybe wrong? 8-)
