Arcade mode isn't for new players, it's for players for think simulation mode is way too hard & no fun.
And as I already told many times already, misplacement with the normal strike doesn't produce error but gives a shorter & slower ball, so if the opponent knows how to play, it should give him a good advantage in the point...

I agree...

Actually I'd like this aswell, just to see the surnames instead of the initial and the short name.

Ey Manu, I'm not really new, i follow the game since 2006, but i never registerd to the forum,
however, i was wondering if it's possible to make 2 styles for a forehand if you know what i mean, because the nadal looking forehand is also used by roger federer sometimes, to i thougt maybe it's possible to ad something like that, just an idea,

The game is great!

It is not that I just noticed this. It is that instead of the synchronization with the racket and the incoming ball getting better so that replay or whatever doesn't show a ball "2 feet" away from the racket head being hit it actually shows a ball being hit by the racket, it really does look now, as S.Williamz said, players can "just run around the court like a headless chicken...[and]...don't have to car at all about positioning." It is not what I prefer or expected. What is wrong with having to learn how to play better so that your shots are better? Instead, the game is made easier such that players, even those with skill, are abusing the "handicaps." I tire of playing guys who stand in front of the baseline and are parallel to the net and hit the ball when it is dead center to their nose and about two inches from where it bounced.

There was a topic about this when TE2009 first came out: http://www.managames.com/Forum/topic15-1791.php?start=0&hilit=arcade . I seem to have changed my opinion a bit, as maybe as S.Williamz, as he said in that topic that it was good to have the normal shot not produce errors with bad positioning. Other shots have been taken out of the game that required skill to produce because they were too hard to return (although the CPU player and some human players were able to return them). They were more realistic than these magic shots that always clear the net and are often unrealistically very short. Having said all of that, I played a match this evening with someone who was clearly using a lag cheat or lag switch (as are used in other games to disrupt network traffic). He kept trying to make me produce errors when the ball was on my side of the court by use of this thing such that my movement was at times very slow and then normal, etc. It caused me to miss many balls, yet I won. Had it not been for the normal strikes with bad positioning not resulting in errors, sure, the game would have been much more difficult. I had to use that "feature" many times in this match, and he used it a lot, also (seems like the slice works, also). However, I'm not sure that this justifies these "handicaps." I've played games like Medal of Honor online, and for a long time I had no kills as everyone was so much better than I was, I had to learn how to adjust to lag, and I had to learn how to play. No one made the game easier for me; I had to improve.

I'm having trouble with volley ever since the release of 1.0c. When at net, and I try to hit a volley with either a normal shot or topspin shot, it goes way long a lot of the time. It didn't do this before build 1.0c. Could you please look into this?

CC,
>> Other shots have been taken out of the game that required skill to produce
I guess the s is too much here, as my guess is that u refer only to the drop shot always clipping the net and abusing of it was clearly an exploit, exactly like people who were doing lobs all the time...

>> I tire of playing guys who stand in front of the baseline
Do efficient acceleration & they won't touch the ball anymore...

Brad1981,
doh, I just checked, and I had trouble to see the problem, but I finally found out that it happens when you volley a very low ball & prepare very early ; in such case, the aiming zone is going out of the court... It'll be fixed for next update... For now, just try to not prepare too early ; the best way to avoid this is to be closer of the net, coz I could get this bug only when I was standing after the service line.

v.williams,
ooops, mistake, it'll be fixed for next update... :)

ManuTOO,

Maybe the problem is that you don't play online much. So, maybe you don't experience these things, and that could be why you don't think that they are an issue. You have guys using lag switches and other things to make it so that you can't do sufficient accelerations without an error, so you have to use slice or rely on the "normal shot" not producing an error. Besides, it still is not realistic to have these types of shots. I guess you want the game to be more easier for new players and everyone (even in simulation mode) than realistic. If that's the case, just be clear about it and, I will quit expecting the game to be realistic ever.

Yeah, lots of players using lag and swapping applications to make it hard to move. If you played online some, maybe under another name, you could experience it. It makes then game not enjoyable, as it is too hard to move to get into position for an accelerated winner. Then, they serve, and they don't use the lag cheat, and they can serve aces unless the returner focuses and is pretty good. Please don't say it doesn't happen or it is my computer until you play with some of these people.

Sorry, forgot to respond about the "other shot(s)." Yeah, I maybe I notice mainly the shot that clips the net that you refer to, but as you mentioned, I guess some lobs maybe were changed. My point is that shots that are maybe realistic in that that could happen are taken out because you think they are too hard (so new players who could use arcade controls but instead use simulation controls can have easy shots and not have to learn how to play properly). And, the accerlated slice is there (but maybe because it is too hard for you too remove, which some mentioned). I guess either the game is going to be easy to play with others online or it is going to be realistic. I guess it is good that games like Medal of Honor weren't designed that way, or my nephew wouldn't cream me every time we play.

Another problem is nothing to do with you or your game creation skills, which I think are both excellent (you and your skills overall). It is not common to be able to talk to the designer of your favorite game. Wow. Quite remarkable, really. So, maybe I say some things that with most games I would never have the chance to say (I would just have to accept that this is the way that it is and get used to it). But this game keeps evolving, and I think that some of that evolution is from feedback that you receive from us (we who play the game). I hope my none of my comments are too harsh, and if they seem that way or are, I'm sorry. Please don't take them personally.
