Dropshot effectiveness

Postby Ethanovic » 21 Oct 2015, 13:42

So i've been playing around with the drop shot much more these days and while i already noticed it years ago, i decided to finally ask the question here.

Is it in some way possible to increase the effectiveness of this particular shot?

I honestly hate using it, and also hate being on the receiving end. It's probably the least realistic shot in the game (sorry manu lol)
For example, when i hit groundstrokes, i manage to stun my opponents every once in a while (meaning they simply don't move and i hit a clean winner) but with drop shots, no matter how far behind the baseline or how surprising it is when i hit it, they always run towards and 9 out of 10 they will be able to reach it.

I simply want to be able to hit drop shot winners more casually.

It is hard to hit a clean dropshot winner in this game unless you are hitting it only when the ball coming to you is really short or when your opponent is really far back and surprised...but the more important thing is the cover up after hitting it so that you can pass ur opponent after your opponent is drawn to net.

Drop shot is overused shot (probably one of the biggest weapon curently in this game), Of course if you know how to use it.
Many spammers use this shot in combination with lob or passing shot if You rush on net. If you get a good practice, you will be able to get easy winners with this shot.
Just, I'm not sure will be interesting to play like that.

Ethanovic,
ok, so the 2 guys above answered about online... ;)
Against CPU, it can be a winner, but only if you stand well inside the baseline, about 0.5-1.5m, and if you have a very high dropshot skill. So usually, it'll be hard to win a point directly with the dropshot.
