CPU never hits ball into net (except on serve)

Postby Togtdyalttai » 11 Jul 2009, 07:16

I'm not sure if this is a desired feature or not, but Santiago92 alerted me to the fact that the Computer player never hits the ball into the net during a rally. I then tested it out myself and sure enough, my CPU didn't hit it into the net at all. This is kind of strange.

Yeah they never do.

Also I think the human player should when making errors hit more into the net. In real life so many errors are into the net and I don't think TE09 has captured this yet.

You can put the ball into net when you position yourself not well enough(talking about human players).

that's right, but that almost never happens when you have been playing the game for a longer time compared to real life.

I can understand that it would be frustrating for beginners when the ball is hit too often into the net, but it would be cool for experienced players to have an opportunity maybe in simulation mode where you can hit the ball into the net more often especially using groundstrokes.

Thanks Tog for post it! I also noticed what jamesblakefan said, it would be fun if the human player hits more into the net. If you are a experienced player you can't do a lot of errors -at least when playing against the computer- and that is not real.

This reminds me of the issue with the drop shot and, to me, sliced shot, that once would clip the net (still does in certain situations). It seems to me that the ball more often hit the net prior to those changes, but I could be wrong about that. It interests me that others are commenting about something similar. Here is a link to my post about the drop shot / net issue:

i may do a lil change about it in the next update, by converting some wide fault to go in the net instead...

I notice in the men's game that the CPU player never hits it long, either. Wide, but never long. It certainly isn't because they don't have the power
The women hit it long as much as wide it seems.

Mmm, I noticed the CPU player hits it long on exhibition matches but I don't remember if it's the same on world tour. But I did notice that, except on service, the CPU players goes to the net after standing on the side of the court -for example in rallies-, not when he is on the center. That's why it's too easy to do passing, and for example, it's too easy to beat Roger Federer in the world tour. I can totally dominate him with passings.

I played a looot of matches in wt, at pro level, as a man player. The cpu players errors are: 90-95% wide, 5-10% long, 0% into the net

I suggest a balance like 35% wide, 35% long and 30% nets
