How do I serve n volley successfully?

Postby martini » 08 May 2015, 07:10

I´m wondering if other users would agree that it´s significantly harder to be successful as a serve and volley-player, than any other type of player? I´ve tried to mix up the serve, but keep losing against the cpu at levels where I would beat the cpu super-easily using any other type of player.

I´m not a beginner, and I fully understand the controls and mechanics behind the different strokes, which I´m puzzled about this. Any input or advice, anyone?

thanks

Hello,

just in case you didn't notice that : usually, it's better to use a Sliced B1 serve to serve & volley, as it gives you more time to reach the net and produces in average a less good return as the ball is lower than a full power B1+B2 serve.

But in a general way, it's pretty hard to serve & volley, which reflects the reality of modern tennis (this style kinda died in the 2000's).

Hello,
Use also the topspin serve (lift key + down then up arrows), it provides a higher return than other serves (on average) and a easier volley.
But I agree with you about the point that the volley is not realistic enough in this game because too weak.
You can also make the court faster with the Court.ini File which will provide more often aces or unreturned serves and a bit more easier volleys but so much because they will keep staying powerless...

Good luck

another tip: lower the balldiffvolley parameter in tennis.ini (or [yourProfile].ini). the lowmax is 0.01.
