Stadium and logo looks amazing!!

Just one question: You said that there's a chance that the game could be more moddable than TE2013.. What exactly means that? So far mods can edit players, outfit, stadiums, etc

I just wonder what else will be moddable

Thanks!!

franco_m_,
as I'm going to use the Unity engine, maybe it'll be possible to change stuff like materials & shaders ; also, it should be easier to add anims and maybe some other stuff.

Hello Manu,
I would be very happy, if we could create custom 3D stadiums without the "mirror effect".

PS: Great job Manu. All stadiums created by you look just fantastic...and I hope you'll add some stadiums for challengers, futures or trainings. :D

Sali_O296,
texturing won't be the same : for TE2013, it was 1 texture for everything ; for TE4 it'll be material based, so it'll have several different textures, one for each kind of material (eg: 1 metal texture for the fences, etc.). For the ads, it'll work the same as TE2013 ( => https://www.managames.com/Forum/topic29-17356.php ).

Smaller stadiums are planned, even 1 annex court for low-rank matches !

Hi Manu and happy new year
I just ask what soft do you use for TE4, if it's always 3ds max 8 or higher? (because without licence, i can't use 3ds max old version anymore, so i can't export my creation :(.
Thanks for your answer!

@manutoo

You've been talking to us about the new tennis elbow for four years.

After 4 years we have only seen an image of the game.

And now you expect us to believe that by the end of 2018 the early access version will be.

You should be more honest.

LittlePonny,
Early Version = TE2013 ported to Unity with new ball & strike physics and AI handling these changes, and maybe 1 new stadium, and no online support.
Port to unity = about 3 months
New ball & strike physics and AI = about 3 months
Time to finish TEM2 = about 3 months

The issue is that this schedule is if I can work fulltime. And right now, I have a big issue with my son that actually needs me more & more when he grows up. I naively thought he'd play more by himself when getting smarter, but now it's the opposite...
So since the beginning, I always give the optimitisc schedule "if everything goes right", but unfortunately, almost everything didn't go as expected in my life ; funnily, my wife got pregnant 1 month after I had written the 1st post of this topic... :blackeye:

Now you have been honest.

But you must not forget something, tennis elbow is the best game in the history of tennis not only for your work but because there is a community of modders and players that have helped you a lot.

Being honest with us should be an obligation

Hello,
I think, TE game is really on high level right now and no doubt is the best tennis game ever made, but I wish a few changes for perfect game - especially on footwork animation!
What do you think about implementation to game manual split steps? Split steps are the most important part of real live tennis is currently missing in the game.
For example on simulation mode split steps would be started manually, after press button and made at the perfect moment, it would give you the opportunity to reach the ball faster - better footwork.
On arcade mode split steps could be done automatically.
I think it would introduce a lot of tactical changes and would give many more possibilities for simulation and realism.
Each player has his own individual technique of moving on court, so maybe it would be possible to introduce such an animation for this part also, as that you could choose service, forehand etc...
Ahh - this is my dreams

Oh, TE could be fantastic with improved footwork with split steps.
...then add slides on clay and a "trick shot button" (tweeners, behind the back shot - very low accuracy) and the game would be just perfect :D :applause: !

Hi Manutoo,

I have played a lot of tennis games and I can unequivocally say Tennis Elbow is the best tennis game ever made. And it is a credit to you that you have made such a wonderful product given that it is just you doing all the work with limited time and resources.

Today an Australian developer released a game called [Please don't advertize concurrent games], and it is literally the worst sports game I have ever played. I paid $100AUD (approx 60 Euro) for the game, and it has nothing on Tennis Elbow. This game was developed by a big team with much more resources than you, and still Tennis Elbow stands head and shoulders above it.

Congratulations to you. I cant wait for your next game.

PS: Also, congratulations to the community for creating such wonderful mods. The game is a masterpiece with them. Sams Megapatch is incredible.

noname1988 & Sali_O296,
it may be worth a try, although it might get cumbersome to have to do that all the time after a while. Maybe it could be useful only in a few special cases.
Also, it might have some issue with it when playing online and the prediction fails.

However, I'm thinking about doing some change in that department. I was thinking maybe we could have a sprint button that would deplete stamina faster but help to reach balls far away. I think it has already been suggested a couple of times in the Forum... :)

In a general way, I have been thinking for a long time now to add a 3rd button whose action would be contextual ; ie: if you are far from the ball, it'd make you sprint ; if you're running back and the ball is in front of you, it could make you do a tweener ; if you're at the net and lobbed it'd make you turn and sprint backward ; if you're near the ball, it'd make you turn around your BH to do a FH (you'd still be able to do that by just moving around, but pressing the contextual button would allow to do it by auto-positioning and/or with a preparation bonus to give you time to position yourself) ; etc.

Miqar_Baqfhied,
thanks for the praise ! I couldn't have done it without all the great feedback I've got for many years on this Forum..!

Here the "best" video of [Please don't advertize concurrent games] I have found :

Ball physics, player physics and rallies seem all way way off.
I wonder a bit what the average TE fan and tennis fan would feel about this game. The average commentator on Youtube or on Internet in general doesn't seem to feel great about it, though... :P

I guess I still don't have to retire right now... :blackeye:

[Please don't advertize concurrent games] is a virtua tennis with better graphics...horrible. They create the "most" real Nadal and the forehand seems the mine haha.

Like all the guys says previously Tennis elbow needs a little the improve in footwork...specialy defensive movements, with that will be perfect.Waiting for your work Manu, sure will be wonderful.
