To be honest the game is great already and i like most of the ideas but it seems like everyone is just baseline power im like the only defender (ive met) and only met one great volley play which is tati cornet. u should defently not make clay faster that would be mistake its the only place defender can win greatly and u should make no top spin more risky to go into the net and the crappy thing where u hit the racket instead of strings so it goes far out sucks balls which makes the two handed backhand crap and everyone having one hand backhand sux... so make the two handed backhand abit more range / your slice range should be same as one hand backhand. and serve u should be able to make your serve faster so not everyone can just serve the same amount my suggestion for that is if u choose volley it should not just be really bigger jumps at net but also "greater serve" like 20+ extra power without using it. so there is more net players coming up and not just baseliners... i mean comeon who dosent like a great twohanded backhand

HAAND the SLICE should BE way better it should be like u can only do top spin shot when sliced to u so it would maybe work :D cause whenever i slice everyone has the time to hit the line and with no top spin its impossible to get that back

Manu, can you make a setting in the .ini to allow us to customize the length/distance of jumps at net?

Mr.X...Doesn't everyone have the CHOICE of a one-handed or two-handed backhand?

Theoretically, yes. In practice, no. No one near the top uses a two-hander because they aren't as powerful, you can't get as much topspin or slice, and especially because they don't reach as far. Manu prefers one-handers, that's pretty much all there is to it. We had a conversation about that...I'd love to see a two-handed backhand become a viable option.

Tog

Online, when playing with the 2 hander and you decide to hit a slice, the slice anime doesn't appear as with the 1 hander...or is it just not as powerful?

It's not as powerful. But that's not the main problem, it's the reach, the power, and the topspin.

Tog

I'm still a little confused...
When I switched to a 2 hander in training mode and used the slice, I noticed no difference in the length or power of the shot...

Could you mean the difference in reach, power, and of course topspin, is mainly in the the actual 2 hander?

Back in the day, in real tennis, they used to say that the 2 hander gave you reduced reach on wide balls anyway, but these days, with the majority of the pro and college players using 2 handers, for some reason you don't hear that as much...

Hi Manu

I emailed you not too long ago about this particular situation and as you never responded back, maybe I'll get some response here on the forum...(who knows...maybe that's precisely WHY you never responded) anyway here goes;

In addition to making some way to control the volleyer's ability to move better to the CPU's oncoming passing attempt ( seems that others here on the forum feel this way as well) could you also put something in the .ini or the player character sheet to be able to "humanize" the CPU lobs...so that they aren't ALWAYS perfect?

I notice that In the training mode the CPU sometimes hits shorter lobs, but in the game the lobs virtually ALWAYS land within a foot of the baseline...at least at the higher levels (pro & higher)

My point is that even though at the higher levels the CPU is SUPPOSED to play tougher (I'm NOT talking about Incredible level here, either) it's EXTREMELY frustrating and not in the least bit realistic... :?

In reality Federer is arguably the GOAT and even HE sometimes mis-hits lobs that fall short when he's under extreme pressure...(Nadal, as well) but in the TE game it doesn't often seem to matter when I push the keyboard key to back up and take the ball in the air, because the lob is too deep...

I've tried not closing in too close to the net, but then you're almost ASSURED of getting passed, even after hitting what should be GOOD approach shots or volleys; I most often have to try and "run down" the lobs and take them as groundstrokes...

I feel that if we can edit other characteristics of the CPU players such as serve, forehand, backhand, etc...why NOT have the same capability on the CPU's lobs for a more realistic playing experience?

Are there any others that feel this way?
If so, please show some support...

btaylor:
- I randomized more the lob for the incoming next update, especially with low lob skill
- there was also a bug that made the ball landed on the line most of the time instead of going out when missed the lob
- I tuned a bit the serves
- the volley jump goes a bit forward as well, when needed

and yup, TE2006 2nd serve was done by my brother mimicking BB's one... ;)

Also:
- 1H BH will have more difficulty in the orange/red zone of the Danger Zone ( => less speed, less precision)
- Bigger wingspan for FH & BH volleys

Santiago92, you can change the strength of the players in the Data\Players.ini .
