Questions about specific Tennis.ini Stats

Postby SpaceHitter » 24 Jun 2014, 04:53

Hello,

Would someone be able to explain the impact on the CPU of the following stats:

Positioning
Reflexes

I have everything else figured out :applause:

Thank you!

Hi,

Positioning: is the foundation for almost all of your footwork when you are playing tennis, how you move around the court in one way or another relates back to the position. More generally, the position is an athletic position that allows you to move quickly around the court in any direction. The better you position yourself on the court, the more effective of your shots, aiming and balance will be better. If you run too close or too far to the ball, then your shots will most likely have bad timing or make errors.

Reflexes: If your reflex is quick, then these aspects of the game will be much better and effective:

Return of serve
Ball timing
How fast can you reach the ball (combine with speed and stamina too)
Net game
Counter skill
How fast or slow your nervous system act when you get or hit the ball
Shot-making (Drop Shot, Lob, Half Volley)

Reflex and Position are two of the most important aspects of the game. Nadal, Djokovic and Murray are 3 examples for having very quick Reflex and well Position of their games

Wow thanks for the response. :applause:

However, is this programmed into the game as such? I am primarily referring to in-game. :bounce:

SpaceHitter,
CPU with a low positioning skill will do some positioning mistake by being a bit too close or too far of the ball bounce (ie: he'll stand before or after the green parts of the Danger Zone).
Reflexe skill modifies all the reaction times of the CPU but in a very limited manner, as the reaction times are mostly determined by its difficulty level.

Thank you manutoo!

You are always so helpful; thank you for a great game. I like simulating CPU v CPU, it is fun for me.

I forgot to ask one more stat though - does the "Passing" stat perform as one would expect? (improves passing shot ie, when the individual with the passing stat is at the baseline and the opponent is at the net)
