Reactions To Builds 19 & 20 [Tuning needed for online matches]

Postby S.Williamz » 11 Nov 2008, 13:40

What is the difference between one handed and two handed shots? I couldn't find it in the doc...it seems that especially with the one-handed backhand you are able to hit more easily near the lines and more angled shots than with 2 hander...? I have found out that these apparent benefits make one hander a far more effective choice in online games, which is kind of a shame because I would like to use two hander, but have to use one hander to keep up with good players who hit one handed shots. It really makes a dramatic difference.

S.Williamz, ooops, I had forgotten to write about this in the doc... This is now updated : https://www.managames.com/tennis/doc/Ten ... html#2hand
The 2-hand shots don't give u a direct angle handicap. But as u need a bit more time to position urself when u use them (coz they are a bit less wide), it lowers ur aiming time, thus, when u're short on time, u can't find a too big angle...

Ok thx Manutoo...

I guess I have to use the one handed backhand. What I meant with dramatic difference was, I was playing against a player who allowed me to win only a few games, he was one handed and I was two handed, and when I switched to one-handed and played him again, the match was a lot closer and I even won. So I think the shots are somewhat unbalanced.
But it's not a big deal, I have no problem with using one handed. :wink:

I do!! So, if you can balance the difference a bit, I would appreciate it.

I know you cannot make it the same, because you have to get to the ball faster with a two-hander than a one-hander.

Maybe make it so that two handed backhands are more powerful and accurate? (I think they are in real life).

Also, Manu, I really appreciate all the work you're doing to fix the game :) but is there any way you could make it so we have to update less frequently, say once a week? Having to download new versions on three consecutive days got sort of annoying...

Manu, I have an idea for online games: it would be great if in the personal message appears your ip, so if you have higher ping than allowed, you can join by remotes games...

@S.Williamz & q. reese :
I changed the 2H strikes a bit, but the best choice will depend of your type of play; ie: If you always try to stand on the baseline, the 2H will be better, if you don't mind going several meters after the baseline, the 1H will be better. (I guess, it needs to be tester in real to be sure of that ;) )

@oohzuzana :
I hope I waited long enough before to do this update... ;)

@Philly :
You're very welcome to post the correct outfit for Garrison here :
topic15-1685.php
.... :whistle:

@Santiago92 :
I just sent u the latest Spanish text file.

>> IP
Not a good idea, coz the goal is to protect the Host from people with too high ping to join him. If he wants to go over the protection, he should manually gives his IP.

Yup, thanks :D

A new suggestion... any wyay there could be score announcing in more than just English and French? I bet we could get people to do a bunch of other languages...

Also (and I recognize this would be a pain), any way there could be multiple settings for some surfaces? Like if you're playing a 10,000 clay tournament, the court maybe should look a little crappier than Philippe Chatrier...

@solarisaint :
I'm not sure what u mean by "unlocked the pan", but u can't manually move the camera left/right, the court picture has to be centered.

@oohzuzana :
No more courts for now...

@Togtdyalttai & oohzuzana :
>> Umpire voices
u can change the announces by urself, if u want, it's all in the Sounds folder... ;)
